Goose Island Official Opening this Weekend

As usual there’s a whole lot happening this weekend in Shanghai. One place that you’ll definitely want to swing by is Goose Island Brewhouse on Maoming Lu. Starting Thursday, they’ll be having a ton of fun events and special deals to kick off their official opening.

THURSDAY, MAY 4

On Thursday, Goose Island, in cooperation with imbeer, will host a “Homebrewers Night” and announce the grand prize winner of the first Goose Island X imbeer Hometown Hero Homebrewer Competition. The three finalists:

O’Honey Winter Ale from Joshua Cerreta (from Cleveland, Ohio)

Peanut-flavored Milk Stout from Liu Zhenyu (from Shanxi)

Chocolate Imperial Stout from Xue Shou (from Shanghai)

The winner (chosen by popular vote and announced at 7pm) will have the opportunity to brew 1000 liters of their winning recipe and have it on tap at Goose Island’s Brewhouse in Shanghai, giving even more people the chance to taste the “Hometown Hero’s” homebrew. They’ll also get to travel to Goose Island’s Chicago, Illinois brewery and spend a week learning and exploring the ins and outs of the craft beer industry in America from Goose Island’s renowned brewmasters.

FRIDAY, MAY 5

5-6pm: Complimentary tasting (yes that means free and open to everyone) of Goose Island’s first seasonal beer launch: Rainy Daze Saison. It’s a dry session Saison, with light citrus and tropical fruit notes, finishes slightly tart, 5% abv, 15 IBU.

7 – 9pm: Live music (DJ + Percussionist + Guitarist + Saxophone + Singer)

9pm – midnight: DJ

SATURDAY, MAY 6

Matilda Promotion all day on draft for RMB 58 per glass (usual price is RMB 98)  

6-8pm. Live music from Denise & Smoky Soul Duo

9pm – midnight: DJ
