Every year, Dragon Burn will host a multi-day camping event for the burners to gather in temporary community. In 2017, this is the first year with the theme: “Magic Jungle” introduced to Dragon Burn. This year’s Dragon Burn will be held in Anji, a county in the city of Huzhou, Zhejiang Province. Described by Doc Bok, Anji is a local scenic area, isolated, and perfectly matching the theme this year.

We talked to one of the artists Lacey Anne Oleson who’s in charge of designing the temple. Yes! This year will be the first Dragon Burn festival with a temple, and this is set to be one of the most impressive installations yet! As is true for Burning Man, the Temple’s purpose within the community is to provide a reflective, balanced, sensitive and spiritual space which encourages burners to use their time in The Temple to release whatever holds them back.

"This year is my third Dragon Burn, and I am involved with the Flying Baozi theme camp. One of the most impressive things is intimacy inside the Dragon Burn, you get to know lots of people in person and know what they do and share your life with each other. Second is gifting, which is my favorite principle of Dragon Burn. During the Dragon Burn, everybody is encouraged to gift something, which could be a hug, an art piece or any unconditional contribution." By Jingyee Shen
