[NEW OPENING] EDR

2017-05-27 ShanghaiWOWeng

There’s a pretty solid new restaurant to check out along the bustling little Yuyuan strip in Jing’an. EDR offers up casual western food with an emphasis on fresh ingredients.

Sourdough Pastrami (RMB69)

First let’s get the name right, EDR stands for Eat. Drink. Repeat. We screwed that up enough times while planning our visit to know it needs a bit of emphasis. Eat. Drink. Repeat.

If you think the name is refreshingly simple you’ll love the venue. It’s almost stunningly minimal, no gimmicky neon signs, graphic wall paper, or knick-knacks of any sort - just concrete, light bulbs, tables and chairs. We’re into it.

Egg Benedict Croissant (RMB 69)

Obviously if you’re going for a minimalist/no-frills approach these days you’d better have some good food, and EDR does. The best way to describe it would be a sort of rustic version of Wagas that costs less but is made with more care, and the freshest ingredients available.

Italian Salad (RMB49)

The menu is still a soft opening version, but for now there are a few salads, sandwiches, pastas and snacks, mostly ranging between RMB50-65. They also offer an all-day brunch with Pancakes (RMB49), Salmon Truffle Scramble Egg Whites (RMB65) and a perfect Egg Benedict Croissant (RMB 69).

There’s also a selection of bottled beers from Ballast Point and Little Creatures, as well as wines, juice and coffee.

Guacamole Chips (RMB60)

Our overall impression was a really good one, we’ll come back for some guacamole and a Sourdough Pastrami Sandwich in the near future for sure.
