Not only is Shanghai home to breathtaking city views, but it also has some of the best theme parks, including water parks, near the city.

HAPPY VALLEY

Acting like a kid again is never a bad idea, and Happy Valley which is the pioneer of China theme parks in Shanghai city is just the perfect place to get your adrenaline pumping. Surprisingly well run and managed theme park, Happy Valley only takes about an hour out of downtown Shanghai. It's super huge, features four large roller coasters and with 7 themes lands.

There is the Gyro Swing at Shanghai Beach which is the most recommend ride in Happy Valley from us. From what we know, it cost more than one hundred million RMB to build this crazy ride. When rising up to 15 stories, you can not only enjoy the cool view but also your heart thrilling.

JINJIANG AMUSEMENT PARK

The summer weather in Shanghai is pretty overwhelming. If you don't want to waste too much energy and time on the transportation, visit the most central and easily accessible one - Jingjiang Amusement Park. This place is equipped with four roller coasters, a bunch of water rides, a ghost train, and a huge ferry wheel.

Oh! And the price is pretty reasonable, even attractive. You only need to pay RMB 100 for entry fee and you'll enjoy 6 free rides. The other good thing about Jingjiang Amusement park is that there aren't too many people and you don't have to waste most of the time at any queue.

ANDERSEN'S THEME PARK

Are Anderson's fairy tales part of your unforgettable childhood memory? Here is the good news. A theme park featuring Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales will be opened in June this year in Shanghai city. Take line 10 of subway to the Yingao East Rd. station and walk for 500 meters and you can hit the park.

This new open theme park is named after Andersen, and with seven themed zones based on the classic fairy tales, such as the Brave Tin Soldier, Thumbelina, the Little Match Girl, the Emperor’s New Clothes, the Little Mermaid, the Ugly Duckling and the Wild Swans. It's the wonderful choice for couples and families!

MAYA BEACH WATER PARK IN HAPPY VALLEY

TICKET PRICE: RMB220

While we don’t all have the time or money for a luxurious week long beach excursion, there’s a warm, fun-filled solution we can all agree on: great water parks near Shanghai! Check out Playa Maya which is one of the biggest water parks in Shanghai! With 150,000 square meters of water surface and features over 40 creative activities and attractions suitable for both young and old, Playa Maya is worth to visit this summer!

For location, it's pretty convenient too! Just ride on the subway line 9 to She Shan station and there is a shuttle bus to water park for free. Our fav one is the Big Octopus Slide. With eight rainbow-colored water slides stretching down from a 17-meter-tall tower, it's pretty easy to notice. It makes visitors scream when they dash down to the pool with a high speed!

DINO BEACH

Speedos, screeching girls and variety of water slides that satisfy your adrenaline. If this is what you expect this summer, make sure to come visit this gloriously fun water park just a short drive from Shanghai. The attractions range from baby pools and water games to massive wave pool and fast slides for adults, it is the perfect spot to refresh your day with your family or friends.

In order to control the crowd, the ticket for weekdays is RMB 150, and for weekends is RMB 200. Also, despite the food is not really good inside, you still have to purchase a set meals around RMB 45 since it's not allowed to bring food from outside. Other than this, most of the attractions is extremely fun and the beach/wave can't be beat!

HAPPY VANKO IN ANJI

Named as the biggest water park in Asia, Happy Vanko Water Park is a great entertainment place in eastern China of the largest scale and highest level. The Happy Vanko Water Park experience is not so much for tourists as for locals, so to enjoy it properly, you need to embrace the fact that you are indeed in China.

Although, the transportation to Happy Vanko is less convenient, but the good thing is that it has less people than other water parks in Shanghai. Also, you can plan another getaway vacay in Anji for the weekend to enjoy the nature! Happy Vanko will be open to public in June 16th. Get ready for the refreshing and cool day!
