Top Live DJ Gigs This Week

The Dragon Boat festival is over, which mean it’s almost the weekend again! There are a few cool DJs in town this week starting on Thursday with one of techno’s most exciting new names, the UK’s DJ Hodge, hitting Elevator. SHFT bring in Trap producer UZ on Friday, and Saturday sees Lovebang bring their crazy party to Dada, with Yeti mixing it up with New York’s Sporting Life.

With roots in garage, drum & bass and dubstep, Hodge's sound is a product of the UK melting pot. Hodge hit his stride a couple years ago on Punch Drunk and Livity Sound's Dnuos Ytivil sublabel, and has since stacked up releases on respected labels like Hotline, Tempa and Berceuse Heroique.

UZ’s innovative approach to production and reputation as a tastemaker has kept him at the top of the game for the past five years. His masked persona makes him something of a mystery man. As a trap producer he’s worked with some of the biggest EDM labels out there.

It’s time to get surreal at Dada with mind-melting décor and visuals, eclectic tunes and a diverse crowd that dances until the sun comes up. Expect Hip Hop, club trax and culture shock vibes. Music comes from Lacychu (SHFT), Naaah (Push& Pull) and Heatwolves.

Choice 37 is an American producer, songwriter and DJ. He applies his Hip Hop roots to create bangers, treating casual listeners to his innovative soundscapes. He has worked with some of YG’s most notable artists including Big Bang, G-Dragon, Taeyang and iKON.

YETI PRESENTS: SPORTING LIFE

Sporting Life is the moniker behind Eric Adiele, and he’ll play a live set using his Roland SP-555 this Saturday. The Harlem-based producer behind New York’s rawest rap trio, Ratking, will play a genre-blending journey to get your feet moving.

DJ Andy Vaz, hailing from Dusseldorf in Germany, will play one of his longs sets at Dada on Saturday night. Since 1997 he has managed Background Recordings, acclaimed as one of the most influential labels to concentrate on minimal techno.

Raha takes a totally hands-on and floor-centric approach, and believes that real dance music exists not at home or on the Internet, nor in VIP areas at clubs, but rather, exactly where it belongs... on the dance floor. Based in Tokyo, Raha has always focused on the groove and the dancefloor, which has earned him a huge following.
