Best Dishes under RMB 100, 200, 300 and 400
A big part of our job is going around to all the best new restaurants in Shanghai and eating all their amazing food (sounds terrible, we know). Sometimes during this process, some really great dishes get lost in the shuffle. We thought we’d highlight a few standouts from the past few weeks, one under RMB100, 200, 300 and 400 because, ya know, people have different budgets.
UNDER RMB100

It’s been publicized half to death lately, but damn it, we’ll mention it again. The Ramen burger almost made our heads explode with its gooey, meaty, cheesy, noodley weirdness. We loved it, and you’ll love it, and it’s under RMB100.
UNDER RMB200
SAUSAGE PLATTER
@ Zeitgeist (RMB 168)
Address: 537 Haifang Lu
Hours: Daily 11am- 2am

The sausage platter at Zeitgeist is simply f’n incredible. The German sausages included are: Spicy cheese krainer, Debreziner, Thuringia, Nuremberg sausage and bock sausage. It all comes served on a big ass plate with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. Zeitgeist’s sausages are made with imported ingredients, fresh meat and excellent quality skin. For RMB 168 it’s seriously a great deal. Go with a friend, order one and drink a bunch of beers. Thank us later.
UNDER RMB300
VIETNAMESE STYLE CURRY
@ Aniseed Saigon (RMB288)
Address: Xintiandi North Block, Lane 181 Taicang Lu
Hours: Daily, 7am-11pm
Tel: 021 5382 1186
Price: RMB288
An enormous, meat-rich crab is doused in a slightly spicy curry, drizzled with coconut and chili oil. You’ll have to do some work to get all the meat out, but it comes with the territory when you choose crab. The hard work is greatly rewarded with big soft lumps of succulent crab. Perfect curry + perfect huge crab = bliss.
UNDER RMB400

If you're really in the mood to spend some money and eat right, we suggest a 9-course meal at Sabor. Each dish is basically a work of art, and (it goes without saying) totally delicious thanks to Michelin starred chef Diego Guerrero.
