Gorgeous New St. Regis Hotel Opens in Jing'an

2017-06-11 ShanghaiWOWeng

Say hello to the stunning new St. Regis Hotel, which has just opened in Jing’an. This is the 9th St. Regis Hotel in mainland China, and the 3rd in Shanghai.

So what makes the St. Regis hotel special? The interior design is very retro British-esque, i.e. noble and elegant. It was also the first ever hotel to introduce butler services, and also the place where the infamous Bloody Mary was invented!

Entrance

Of course the first thing you’ll notice on arrival is the magnificent entrance. The huge revolving door, the marble floor and the striking logo scream high-end luxury. Once you’re through the door, the reception desk is just to your right along with some plush leather seats for waiting customers. Then a housekeeper will escort you to your room. Make sure you don’t dash straight to your room - it would be criminal not to look around at all the stunning crystal lamps and elegant decor along the way. Dale Chihuly is the man to thank for the incredible glass sculptures dotted around the place.

Rooms

The hotel has a total of 491 rooms, including 66 suites and 55 apartments. The standard rooms go up to the 61st floor, the 62nd-67th consist of the apartments, and finally the three-storey presidential suite sits on the 68th floor.

VIP Room

The highlight of the VIP room is the large bath next to a sprawling window that overlooks the entire city. What better way to relax?! All the bath products are St Regis’ own brand - Laboratoire Remede, made in the USA. Not only does the packaging match the rest of the decor, but it’s possibly some of creamiest, most moisturizing bath stuff you’ll ever use!

Executive Deluxe Room

Executive deluxe rooms are a touch more spacious than the standard VIP rooms. They are divided into different sections, so it feels more like an actual apartment than just a bedroom. Plus the enormous windows flood the space with natural light from dawn until dusk! If privacy is an issue for you, this room may be more suitable since the bath is hidden behind a wall.

St. Regis Suite

St. Regis Suite is a much cozier living environment than the others, it’s perfect if you want to spend a bit of quality time with a loved one!

Food and Drink

The hotels boasts 6 dining venues, all located on the 1st and 2nd floors. The Japanese restaurant Shiting is laid out in a traditional Japanese way.

The Chinese restaurant Yanting has a top Cantonese chef cooking up all his best dishes.

The St. Regis Bar is the most iconic dining space in the hotel, with its striking geometric prints and bright colors screaming at you from all angles.

St. Regis Hotel was the establishment that first created a Bloody Mary cocktail, so as you can imagine, it’s the best you can get. They make it with a fairly small amount of dried vodka, sweet-scented osmanthus, and cherry tomatoes. It’s absolutely delicious and perfectly refreshing on a hot summer’s day (or any day really). They also offer numerous extra flavors of Bloody Mary.

The second floor of the bar is the champagne area if you’re looking for a bit more class.

Other Attractions

As you’re walking around the hotel, don’t forget to take the time to appreciate some of the works of art hanging from the walls. Many of them were created by local artists, and St Regis works hard to support local art in all its branches. There’s even artwork in the elevator!

Don’t forget to check out the enormous (1,400m2!) lavish Aston banquet hall, which arguably could be described as even more incredible than the entrance hall. The enormous windows just add to the effect.

Believe it or not, this is not an art gallery, but a swimming pool! You could come here for a touch of relaxation, or alternatively spend an hour or so in the yoga room.
