Shanghai is experiencing an unusually hot summer season. With a heat index already exceeding 40-degrees, here are some places you can go to cool down. Here are the city’s coolest places, literally:

Artic Experience 

Where everything is sub zero

One Sino Park-Snow bar

It's 5 degrees centigrade below zero here. There are 150 kinds of vodka to drink, but you better wear a warm jacket!

The counters and chairs are made of ice, the bar counter is piled with snow, the bartender is wearing a down jacket... Because the temperature outside is so high, we chose to go to the only bar whose room temperature is below freezing year-round. Entering the place is like passing through an Eskimos’ igloo.

It is said that the vodka here has stopped being produced around the world. Perhaps what you are drinking is the last of its kind.

Winter Wonderland

It may be summer but winter is coming... Here are some places to skate in town. 

FEIYANG SKATING CENTER

This is the only skating center in Shanghai that has double ice. The upper arena is Olympic standard, with a 1800 square meter rink. The lower arena is a practicing rink, which is 1000 square meters. You can skate for free during their opening hours, and even watch the ice hockey games.

ALL STAR ICE SKATING CLUB 

All Star is an enormous, iconic indoor rink. It is the biggest skating center with the best environment in Shanghai. It provides lockers and seats for parents to watch their their kids. The staff are happy to help less experienced skaters.

CHAMPION RINK

Champion is the first chain skating rink in China, and it currently has three locations in Shanghai. All three rinks are inside shopping malls, so they’re easy to find and if you get sick of falling on your butt, you can go grab some food or go shopping with friends.

CENTURY STAR SKATING CLUB 

Century used to be at Mercedes Benz Arena, but moved to 200 Shanggang Lu because their contract expired. Its new home is inside the Peru Pavilion, with an area of nearly 1400 square meters. They provide regular hockey and skating lessons, as well as free skating.
