Shanghai's Best Spots for a Farewell Party

2017-08-07 ShanghaiWOWeng

Living Shanghai soon? Your farewell party should be a sublime celebration of Shanghai shenanigans. It should be…epic. And here are our top favorites to throw that all-out bash of a lifetime, enjoy!

Cages

Many reasons make this place one of our top picks for farewell party. The venue is huge so you can pack easily 50 friends without problem. And, they will not charge you a booking fee or harass you about the amount of people coming. You can drink & eat properly in the venue (Nachos and burgers—yummy). Your night can include fun activities like pool, darts, petanque and baseball so you are not restricted to just drinking and dancing around like a monkey.

Perfect for: Sports Lovers
Address: 428 Jiangning Lu, Jing'an Sports Centre, 3/F

Zapata's

Going to Zapata’s is a rite of passage in Shanghai. If you haven’t been here yet, you can end your stint in Shanghai here. Dancing on bars? Check. Pouring tequila down your throat? Check. Crazy nights? Check. Ready to end your last night in Shanghai with jackass ideas? This is your spot.

Perfect for: Crazy jackasses
Address:  5 Hengshan Lu

Zapfler

Now this is a great place because it is not over the top crazy, or too sporty. If you enjoy your last night over good company and good beer, this is the spot right here. They have a party package as well, RMB 1500 for 30 liters of beer. Which make the beer around RMB 25, hence 50% off the normal price. Your friends can’t say it’s too expensive/far/complicated and end up being a no-show.

Perfect for: The broke man and his friends
Address: 158 Julu Lu

Bar Rouge

Want to leave Shanghai with a bang? We all have a tiny part of ourselves where we want poshy and super glam…so make this a dream come true and book your night out at Bar Rouge! Champagne and fireworks will make the night even more outstanding! You have been in Shanghai for a while, and it’s time to treat yourselves.

Perfect for: Glamourous and Fancy
Address: 18 Zhongshan Dong Yi Lu

Perry's

We have mixed feelings about Perry’s. Sure it can be the best dive bar but also the worst bar in town. Your expectations can only be as high as their drink price, which is RMB35. Great if your friends want a roaring drunk experience but be prepared for one of the worst hangovers. But, you can be sure your friends will have a good time. Highly suggest not to do a big night out here if you intend on flying out the next day.

Perfect for: Students
Address: 1333 Huaihai Zhong Lu

Must Grill

Must Grill has one of the best terraces in town because it is hidden from the road, on the first floor of a compound so it’s easy to access without the need to take stairs or an the elevator. It’s huge and completely relaxed. Plus they can make a RMB 100 deal for all: three vouchers applicable for food and drinks to consume in the evening including ( wine, beer, simple mix, pastis) and finger foods.

Perfect for:Terrace lovers
Address: 881 Wuding Lu, Bldg 2, 1/F

Lotus Eatery

If you enjoy Chinese food and want something more exotic, Lotus Eatery is your spot. Serving Yunnan cuisine, the food is delicious and cheap. Beers are only RMB10 and you can even book a private room without any minimal fee.

Perfect for: Eating AND drinking machine
Address: 1112 Dingxi Lu

Mint

M1NT is famed for beautiful people and exclusive parties. But there is one thing that you can try to have to make your night outstanding, and that is getting your name on the wall.

Perfect for: Beautiful friends
Address: 1123 Yan'an Zhong Lu

Zeitgeist

Zeitgeist’s boys have nothing against you guys singing, acting like monkeys or drinking half of your weight in beer and rolling under the table. Their German beers are at RMB 35, plus they can organize a BBQ if needed.

Perfect for: Monkeying around
Address: 537 Haifang Lu

Xo Bar

The bar is ideal for a private party, roughly the size of your living room. And this is the perfect spot because there is nothing more embarrassing than booking a big spot if nobody shows up. Plus the bar manager is adorable and they have good price on wine. And it is nearby a subway station (in case you hate walking). You may need to pay for a deposit but, we are in China, everything is negotiable (contact Elaine on WeChat to keep in touch at Elainekooke).

Perfect for:  wine lovers
Address: 237 Hengshan Lu

Ruin Bar

Because the spot in already enough damaged in itself, you guys will never make it looks worse, whatever the merry mess you put in. You can also Sherpa a pizza if you want, as long as you share the food, they don’t mind.

Perfect for: Wild bunch
Address: 1788 Xinzha Lu

Colca

Colca as an adorable terrace with joyful colors. The food is on spot and delicious. If you want to sit outside, they can organize an area depending your need. Plus the bar is easy to access (less than 3 meters) and the food, from one of the best chef in town, is awesome.

Perfect for: Low key classy dinner
Address: 199 Hengshan Lu
