Know Your Chinese Airlines (It Could Save You Money!)
China’s national Day is coming, so you got an 8-day holiday. Are you ready? I bet you have made perfect preparations for this long-awaited outing. So the first step you need to do is to book an airline ticket for your trip. Many of the larger Chinese airlines provide top bilingual service, so you don’t need to worry about language barriers. For cheaper tickets however, unless you’re a registered member of the big airline companies, you may want to also check out some of less common airlines. Take a look at our list of some of the best Chinese airlines, both big & small.
China Eastern Airlines
Chinese Eastern is undoubtedly one of the most notable airlines in China. Excellent and efficient planes, bilingual stewards/stewardesses, and decent entertainment, this is a no-brainer. However, such a reputation does not earn them a spot amongst the cheapest airlines in China. Tickets via China Eastern may be more expensive than some competitors. Consider becoming a member to lower that price tag a bit.
Become a Member: Go to their website: http://en.ceair.com/, an English service is available here. Then you have to click “register” on the upper right of their homepage and complete the member registration. Once you finish the registration, you can get the cheapest ticket they offer. So what are you waiting for?
China Southern Airlines
The South remembers! Wait, that doesn’t sound right… Game of Thrones quotes aside, China Southern is another easy choice for many. Full bilingual service, and all the amenities you’d expect on any airline no matter where you are in the world. Once again, members are entitled to a special perks and discounts. See the link below to sign up.

Hainan Airlines
Hainan Airlines, while still pretty big is definitely one you will have used far less often the previous two. Tickets throughout most of southern China can often be found discounted on Hainan Airlines if you’re a real bargain searcher. They do also offer the same membership service you’d get with the other airlines although it’s limited as to the discounts you’ll receive. Consider a nice trip to Hainan itself this holiday and this will be the perfect airline for you!
Shenzhen Airlines
Popular for the famous “visa run,” Shenzhen Airlines operates out of Shenzhen Bao’ an International airport and actually is an international airline, even if the only technically international flight we’ve seen them make is to Hong Kong. Regardless, it’s a pretty cheap ticket with these guys when you’re making that southern border bound flight to flee the country when you’re on day 89 of your 90-day visa. At least Shenzhen airlines doesn’t judge you for your choices to live such a nomadic lifestyle, but rather provide you with the means to keep on keepin’ on.
Juneyao Airlines
These bad boys are based right in our very own paradise that we call home (Shanghai). Although don’t feel bad if you’ve never flown with them, their online ratings are nothing to admire, although there isn’t an incredible amount of bad press against them. Seemingly, Juneyao has just stayed on the down-low and picked up the scraps of the bigger competitors. Either way, ticket prices both in and out of country when compared with the likes of Air China, or several others were slightly more affordable, before any discounts, miles, or promotions were added. Do yourself a favor and check these guys out.
