6 Reasons Fuzhou Lu Kicks Ass

There are plenty of great streets to wander in Shanghai, but if you haven’t checked out Fuzhou Lu, you’re missing out. Fuzhou runs parallel to East Nanjing pedestrian street, just south of it, taking you from People’s Square to the Bund.

Art Supply Stores Everywhere

What Fuzhou Lu is probably best known for is the abundance of Art Supply Stores. There are approximately 20 of them on and around Fuzhou Lu, all selling reasonably-priced supplies and materials. From paints to canvases, pens, markers, fabrics… you name it. 

Stationeries Everywhere

Not interested in painting fruit bowls? No problem, get some more practical gear at the numerous stationary shops along the street, notebooks, pens, backpacks and other stuff that will help you organize your life a little bit. 

Foreign Book Store

Probably the biggest, best English Language bookstore in the city, this spot has 5 floors packed with books. 

Chinese Book Stores

Whether you read Chinese or not, there are some pretty incredible Chinese language bookstores along Fuzhou Lu. Well worth checking out, even if it’s just for their beautiful interiors and some top-notch people watching. 

Art Deco Buildings

The Bund is known for having quite a few Art Deco-inspired buildings, but when you walk from west to east along Fuzhou Lu you can see the gradual transition. 

The Bund

It takes about 25 minutes to walk from People’s Square metro to the end of Fuzhou Lu, but it’s worth the journey as you’ll finish right on the Bund.
