2017-09-26 ShanghaiWOWeng

Opening its doors this month, Bazun Barbeque and Beer House is ready to impress with its succulent barbecue meat and fresh cuts. Here are some fun facts about the place:

Fun Fact 1:

With a small seating capacity of up to 5 tables and 1 private dining room, as well as a limited stocked menu, you should make a reservation in advance to avoid any disappointments.

Fun Fact 2:

Serving steak of epic proportions, the nicely marbled steak here can be as long as up to 2 iPhone 6 Pluses!

Fun Fact 3:

Providing a world-class service experience, each table comes with a buzzer which when pressed, will call one of their service member to your attendance.

For all steak lovers, do check out the restaurant’s private dining menu for a serving of the marbled steak with evenly distributed fats and meat.

If you know your meat, you would know that a true sign of a great quality meat lies in the great marbling detail, just like those on the steak here.

Have a big appetite? Opt for the cuts between the 7th to 10th rib, and be guaranteed a portion bigger than the size of your hand! Do note that ribeye cuts here start from 100g.

During the barbecuing process, the low heat will melt the steak’s fat, giving it is glossy coating and mouth-watering succulent texture and smoky flavor.

If you’re feeling fancy, opt for the hanger steak here, the most tender cut on the animal and prized for its texture and flavors.

Termed as the diamond cut meat here, it got its name from the grill effect produced from the barbeque process.

If you’re a lazy eater, fret not as the lovely service crew here will cut up the steak when cooked into small bite-size pieces for easy consumption.

Also known as the butcher’s cut, the hanger steak was previously an unpopular cut on the animal, till people started learning about its incredible flavors and how to cook them.

Cooked without any added marinate, the steak gains its smoky and caramelized flavor from the slow barbeque process.

If ribeye is too tender for you, opt for the rib steak which has a tougher texture but fattier taste and flavor.

Adding a special salt and chili rub to the steak, the rub enhances the flavor of the steak throughout its cooking process, bringing out the beefy and smoky flavor we all love.

The rib cut is located near the scapula and the beat is separated right in the middle by a thin muscle.

The divide creates 2 different types of beef, one with a more tender texture, and another with a tougher texture.

Apart from selling steak, the restaurant also sells pork, which includes the air-flown Spanish Iberico pork, one of the most prized and well-known porks in the world.

Fatty and juicy, the barbequed pork derives its flavor from the melted fats which forms a layer of glossy coating on the meat, as well as rock salt. .

Bringing Seafood and Fresh Cuts to its diners

What looks like a traditional Chinese weapon, the axe handle steak undergoes a long low-heat cooking process that locks in the meat’s nutrition and flavors, giving it its juicy flavors and tantalizing pink meat color.

Fish here undergo an overnight drying process, a popular cooking method in Hokkaido, where they are cooled in a 0-4 degrees room to kill off any germs and dry out the meat, preserving its flavors.

The restaurant uses Taiwanese-imported threadfin, which when cooked has slightly burnt ends and thick, soft flesh.

Another recommended seafood dish is the scallop, which is topped with caviar before undergoing a smoking process, to produce a smoky and fresh seafood dish.

Apart from various types of barbeque meats, the restaurant has a great selection of barbequed seafood, including fresh oysters which can be found in their supper menu!

No barberque is complete without Sake, and at Bazun, the store sells renowned Hakuteki Sake, a quality Japanese Sake with a fruity flavor.

Japanese-themed restaurant with a modern twist

Capitalizing on its limited seating capacity, the restaurant provides ample dining space for every diner, allowing them to enjoy a  great meal with minimal disturbances.

Incorporating bamboo and earth elements in its design, the restaurant largely uses a grey, black and grey-yellow color palette, creating a Japanese and intimate dining ambience.

It also incorporates various Japanese elements like the Shimenawa into its design and dinner setting. Despite using separators to indicate the different dining areas, diners will still be able to enjoy the outside view at the comforts of their seat and from the restaurant’s windows. As part of the dining experience, the restaurant provides a wishing plaque, which customers can write down their wishes on.

The restaurant’s interior, menu and costume design is designed by none other than this lady right here, who aims to incorporate modern and traditional Japanese elements into the restaurant, enhancing the diner’s dining experience.

When here, look around and you will realize that each pair of chopsticks are uniquely designed, bringing something fresh to regular diners here.

One of the restaurant’s highlights is definitely the service button, which gets the attention of the service staff with little to known shouting and waving.
