5 Shanghai Bartenders Told Us Their Favorite Drunk Foods
One of the best (or… maybe worst??) parts of getting drunk is the unrestrained 3am pig-out session. But where to go? Shanghai is a city filled with options, so to narrow them down we asked 5 local bartenders the following question:
What’s your favorite thing to eat in Shanghai when you’re incredibly drunk?

“When I am drunk I prefer the pineapple cheeseburger at the rooster or hot pot. If there are a few pizza slices from Joe’s or homeslice around I love to dig into that as well”

“I've been known to stumble into Joe's Pizza a couple times when wasted to burn my mouth on some awesome pizza. But they aren't open very late which leaves fishing for quail eggs at late-night hot pot spots as a favorite pastime of mine or munching on fried pork stuffed with cheese (爆浆猪排) at hole-in-the-wall bbq spots. Hot pot is the social choice though, can usually rally a few industry friends on the late night for a bite to eat and see some familiar faces across the sauce bar.”

“Probably Lawson’s sausage, it’s actually really good”

“Most of the time I go for street food and barbecue. Easiest thing to find on a late night I would say... There's a big, beautifully supplied corner between the shop and my house so it's perfect ahahahah. And I would say a good plate of fried noodles is my favorite. Loads of veggies, try to avoid the meat always but when drunk me is on you may never know what happens.”

“The 黄鱼煨面 (Braised Noodles with Yellow Croaker) or the 虫草花粥 (Cordyceps flower porridge) at 顶特勒”
