[FIRST LOOK] Musician Line-up at Beernanza

2017-10-27 ShanghaiWOWeng

The 3rd edition of Beernanza Beer Festival, organized by Bevex, will be held from Friday November 3 to Sunday November 5, 2017. With the theme of ‘Enter the Jungle’, the event will feature more than 150 different craft beers from China and around the world, neatly spread over the Okura Garden Hotel.

The event is a three-day celebration of beer, food, and live music. Music will be provided by different bands and DJs, and set over three stages. Below is a list of the acts that will be playing.

Tone

Tone is from Detroit, Michigan the birthplace of Motown and House music, which are his two primary influences. He plans to take music into the future by combining Hip-Hop, R&B, and electronic music. He uses witty lyricism to paint a sonic picture on the track. Tone is quickly on his way to becoming a multitalented international artist and songwriter.

Bent Scribe

Faggots on the roof are a couple of bum chums, who when not treating themselves to a Guinness colonic, like to thrash one out on the old guitar. These guys pack enough foreskin to operate a bungee jumping company over tiger leaping gorge. Give them a butchers for a bit of ego death. Not our words, the words of a Serb. Bent Scribe brings together the twin arts of quality noncing and rad riffs that leave you feeling like you’ve just been gangbanged by the mujaheddin.

Zhao Dai

Zhao Dai (Z 好歹), the electro-organic music trio, grew together from the flames of Dragon Burn. The group is made of Lev Zep, JenSomeone and Clem De La Creme. Lev is the sound maestro creating an array of electro vibes laced with subtle samples that lay the base for each song, Jen uses her vocals to dance over the tracks drawing out emotions and creating the hooks, and Clem twists words and flows adding the final layer to complete the Zhao Dai waves. Together they make a power packed combo that people have never seen before.

Clem De La Creme

While many know Clem De La Creme as a rapper, the world got to experience him as a DJ this summer when he toured with DJ B.O across China and in Vietnam. For this set at Beernanza, Clem will be mixing music he loves, giving you a hip-hop foundation blending in electro-swing, Latin vibes and more.

Mark W

Mark W is "The Human Jukebox". He plays songs like an iPod on shuffle. He seamlessly moves between rock, pop, country, blues and even his own compositions. His voice can easily move between the different styles and has even been described as "sweetness".

The Celty's

Five bards, brothers in soul, playing traditional music from Brittany, an old land full of magic. Druidic vibes and Celtic music to make you dance and groove like Merlin and King Arthur thousand years ago. For a taste of Fest-Noz. Kenavo!

The Stanky Boyz

Since their breakout album "C'mon Mandy!", The Stanky Boyz have bust a nut across the Shanghai hip hop scene. Their live shows blend freestyle rap with bluegrass jazz and loads of fine honeyz. Recently described by SmartShanghai as "The best Irish hip hop trio since Biggie Smalls", they are not to be missed.

Bojangle's No Stonewall Bonanza

"Bojangle's No Stonewall Bonanza" features Grandmaster Uncle Dave Bojangles on percussion. You might know him as "the 3rd best singer in Yangfeng Corporation"; you might know him for his Illumin8ting commentary; but either way, you'll find memorable his percussive performances personable. He'll be joined by music compatriots, including special guest Andy Francis on trombone.

Cruel Buddhist

Cruel Buddhist explores Lofi Hip-Hop and Neo-Funk with original beats and live improvised loops. He's brought wavy vibes with his live synthisizer and drum pad mastery to places like Mao Livehouse, Arkham, Modern Sky Lab, and Dada. Watch out for funky grooves at the Cruel Buddhist live beat set for Beernanza 2017.

Street Kreativs

Vinigga “that nigga” and Lupiano “balls” Alfresco, are mediocre to decent back up singers. They only get along because no one actually wants to be friends with them. Their music is ok. Like their mentor, Bob Cider, they don’t play for Cheese.

Skinny Og and Queen Diamond

SKINNY OG and QUEEN DIAMOND are the most authentic American HipHop artists in China. This male & female duo have performed more than 200 shows since they arrived in Shanghai in 2015. Their musical style combines hardcore HipHop, Reggae, Soul, and romantic R&B.

JenSomeone

JenSomeone is a Eurasian-singer-songwriter who first emerged in the Shanghai Music scene with her catchy and heartfelt original "Wake Up Dreamer" (a crowd favorite and also the tattoo on her back). Jen has been seen rockin' special events and the Shanghai theater stage the past two years. She's a big proponent for original music in the local scene and her powerful emotion filled vocals have taken many to new heights.

Nickeyson

Nickeyson, a Bard, Composer, Sound Designer, Song Writer and Freelancer, was born in Canton China. He blends Cantonese and world music elements into a new language to create something new.

Bob Cider

Bob Cider is new in town and just started his career in the beer fest circuit. He makes new songs every show that never gets recorded. Allergic to the coastline, he loves being landlocked and is a big fan of non-alcoholic cider. A guitarist and singer and spontaneous composer, Bob Cider never pays for cheese.

The Nasty Revue

Enjoy The Nasty Revue with care. In high doses it has been known to cause poonani tsunami and erect sausage. "Whoa is that guy/gal having a seizure?!" No, (s)he is getting down to the sounds of The Nasty Revue.

Tbird Luv

Known as one of the leading contemporary flautist of her generation, Tbird Luv has developed an enormously diverse and innovative way of conveying music through her flute and her voice. She integrated vocal counterpoint with flute extended techniques that sound like birdcalls, growls and wind sounds. Drawing upon experimental world music, gypsy acoustic blues and classical music, Tbird's mission to inspire us all to "make the world a better place" from our own unique point of view.

Yanran

Yanran is a R&B/neo-soul singer, guitarist and songwriter. She’s a crowd favorite, performing regularly at bars like The Apartment and The Rooster. Yanran's voice blends both sweetness and groove, bringing out a chill vibe to all who listen. At Beernanza, Yanran will do a duo set with guitarist Jared.

Lev Zep

Originally from the U.S., Lev Zep has been based in Asia for the last 7 years with a focus on music and events management in the greater China region. As a DJ he’s played hundreds of shows across Asia and has performed and worked with local and international artists. Whether he's playing live with his custom MIDI setup or rocking the decks with his unique blends and mashups, you can definitely always expect some sexy bass and grooves from Zep!

Greg Byler

Greg Byler brings a truly original sound. Having studied a variety of musical styles including flamenco, jazz, Americana, folk, and Brazilian, each song stands alone, offering unique combinations of rhythm and harmony that often defy labels. Pulling from loss and years of international travel and spiritual searching as inspiration, his poetic lyrical content offers the listener an opportunity to find their own interpretation.

Dj Tuko

Originally from North Carolina, USA, TUKO has been performing in China for over 6 years. TUKO creates a unique sun-inspired journey of house, tech, and world music bound together with melodic guitar riffs, traditional vocals, and live drums floating above heavy bass lines.

Sreina - World Music from the mountains of Gansu

Lead singer: Bone Lhamo Kyap

Percussion: John Lee

Bone Lhamo Kyap was raised by his grandmother; the memory of his childhood remains deep in his soul. Sreina is the name of his grandmother’s homeland. All of his inspiration and sensitivity is from that natural place; the vast mountains and grasslands. That is why he chose the name, SREINA. SREINA’s power and inspiration comes from this root, from this pure and natural source. Bone and John, together harnesses this energy to share with others, communicating the deepest of feeling. For SREINA, music is the universal language of the heart.

Galēən

Galēən is a band of bros. Literally. Two brothas from the same mutha. Think Hanson but shorter hair and less boppy. Josh and Phil create dark folk/acoustic prog rock through their dueling guitars and drums. Not as angsty and nasally as the Gallagher brothers, but still quite a spectacle to see onstage. They feature rotating guest musicians such as bass and keyboards to create a unique, dark sound. Enjoy!

Altieri

Eugenio Altieri is an Italian producer/designer based in Shanghai. Ever since Eugenio met house music in early 90s at the famous Disco Ennennci in Naples the two became inseparable. In 2004 he started to play with machines and samples mixing his passion for music with his visual attitude. He created many audio/video projects and worked on several ‘Weirdo Production’ sessions. After finishing his design studies, he moved to Shanghai where he founded the DesToys duo, a live project influenced by horror, space disco and American 80’s commercials. In 2015 “Altieri” was born. This solo project is influenced by the Dark Side of house, new wave and obscure disco, but its key inspiration is daily life itself.

The event is three days of beer, food, live music and DJ entertainment. Pre-sale tickets are 50rmb with 2 free beers or 50rmb at the door with one beer.
