12 Christmas Markets in Shanghai
We haven’t even hit Thanksgiving but sleighbells are already ringing! If you have FOMO like us and are a serious market groupie, get those calendars out because the 12 days of Christmas markets are a-coming-at-cha-fast! Some prioritization will be in order for double-booked dates (mostly school bazaar’s), so get ready….steady… shop… !
The Brazilian Market Bazaar
Where: The Emerald, 111 Kangba Road, Pudong (West Gate)
When: Wednesday November 15th, 11am-3pm
Entry Fee: Free (show the above flyer at the entrance)
Who doesn’t love anything Brazilian? Cheekiness aside, schlep over to Pudong for this big-hearted bazaar where all proceeds of handmade crafts and other items go to the Baobei Foundation (a charity that provides surgery and rehabilitation for Chinese orphans). Get a traditional Brazilian feed whilst giving!
The Shanghai Center Designer Market
Where: Shanghai Centre, 1376 Nanjing Xi Lu (near Xikang Lu)
When: Thursday November 16th, 10am-5pm
Entry Fee: Free
An iconic bazaar and favourite of the Christmas market scene is the Shanghai Center Designer Market. Pick up gifts galore with Shanghai’s most creative designers and browse with yummy treats in hand. Centrally located, you are also spoilt for choice when choosing a lunch spot for recharging the shopping battery!
The Concordia International School Christmas Bazaar
Where: Concordia International School, 345 Huangyang Lu (near Mingyue Lu)
When: Saturday November 18th, 10am-4pm
Entry Fee: Free
Pay attention parents (and Santa-fans), this could be the only place you get a Santa photo with the little ones in time to send Christmas cards! Okay, nobody really does that anymore, but getting the kids’ Santa photo can be a mission at the best of times so get in quick! Then have a wander around the mindboggling array of gift vendors, charity stalls, decorative items and grab food on the go.
The Ambassy Club Bazaar
Where: Ambassy Clubhouse Lobby, 588 Hongfeng Lu
When: Wednesday November 22nd, 10am-3pm
Entry Fee: Free
If other fairs are a hike for you, this is a convenient and central location to grab a well-curated line up of chi-chi gifts! Make a half day of it, with scores of lunch spots for before or after at its doorstep.
The Wellington College Christmas Bazaar
Where: 1500 Yaolong Lu (near Haiyang Xi Lu)
When: Friday, November 24th, 1-5pm
Entry Fee: Free
This is about as child-friendly as it can get as either the big kids are in school or the little ones get entertainment whilst parents have a wander and shop! With wine tasting and a bouncy castle, we’d say everyone leaves Ho-Ho- Happy!
WISS and SCIS Winter Bazaar’s
SCIS (Shanghai International Community School)
Where: 1161 Hongqiao Lu (near Yili Lu)
When: Saturday, November 25th, 11am-4pm

WISS (Western International School Shanghai)
Where: 555 Lian Min Road, Xujing Town, Qingpu District

A double banger with the international school winter fairs – choose your loyalties or get ready to zoom from Hongqiao to Qingpu to catch both! WISS will also feature getting that Santa photo if you missed out on Concordia.
The Pearl’s French Christmas Marke
Where: 471 Zhapu Lu (near Wujin Lu)
When: Sat-Sun November 25-26, 12pm-8pm
Entry Fee: RMB20 at the door, free entry for children 5-years and under
Featuring the third edition of their annual Christmas Market, The Pearl will be decking their halls with a Parisian theme. French specialties such as foie gras feature as well as live music and entertainment! Could be a Joeyeux Noel for those missing a bit of home or simply good French food!
The Christkindlmarkt
Where: Paulaner Brauhaus Expo, 555 Shibo Dadao (near Xizang Nan Lu)
When: Fri-Sun, December 1-3, 3pm-9pm
Entry Fee: RMB30, free entry for children 10-years and under
Shanghai's longest-running annual Christmas market and arguably the one with the most magical Christmassy feel will be back! Hosting 70 traditionally decorated wooden huts, expect everything from varieties of sausages to ‘Gluehwein’, gingerbread, sugar-roasted almonds and have a browse amongst Christmas decorations and artisanal produce and handicrafts.
Dulwich International School Winter Fair
Where: 266 Lan’an Road near Biyun Road
When: Saturday 2nd December, 10:30am-4pm
Entry Fee: Free
One of the most popular Winter school fairs around, get in some last minute Christmas shopping before going back home or simply have a wander and let the kids loose on their vast grounds.
Hongqiao Bazaars – December 8th
Windsor Place Christmas Bazaar

YCIS (Yew Chung International School) Christmas Bazaar
Where: 11 Shuicheng Road, Hongqiao (C Building, and the Fields)
When: Friday, December 8th, 6-9pm

Another double-banger but this time you won’t have to go far if you want to catch both as they are both located in Hongqiao! One is in a housing compound and the other is at an international school, about 10-15 minutes drive apart.
K11 Christmas Commune Market
Where: K11 mall, 300 Huaihai Road, 6th floor Sky Garden
When: December 8-10 and 15-17, 11am-10pm
Entry Fee: 100RMB/ticket (includes 2 vouchers for food/snack and 1 voucher for craft beer!)
With a tropical floral theme, K11 once again delivers on the imagination front to create a unique Christmas market arena. Commune market, the well known entrepreneurial movement will feature talented local designers, crafts people and artists, all in one location. Find that beautifully unique gift here!
Jiashan Market
