Where to Lazy Glamp, Easy Glamp and Crazy Glamp

2017-11-19 ShanghaiWOWeng

Glamping (glamorous camping) is my new favorite thing. You can have all of the joy of camping and being one with nature etc., without having to put one toe in the mud. These ‘tents’ are usually permanent structures with wooden floors, electricity and nice comfy beds. It’s a great way to get away and relax without having to get too wild. Best thing about it is most glamping sites have deals for fall and winter because it’s offseason, and they provide electric blankets so you can be toasty warm at night.

Glamping has been slowly catching on in China. It’s in its infancy but it’s growing steadily. There aren’t a ton of places to glamp (yet), but we have the feeling it’s really going to catch on! Here’s where you can go glamp.

Lazy Glamp in Shanghai

For the ultimate in lazy glamping, not even outside of the city (feels like it though) then this is the spot for you.

If you hate traveling and you only like taking pictures of nature from your deck chair with a sangria in your hand, then this is just the spot to hit. No shared kitchens or bathrooms, you get your own, which is the dream. And if you’re feeling like staggering out of the deck chair there are also a decent selection of activities, including kayaking, mountain biking, swimming and more.

Easy Glamp in Hangzhou

Want to get out of Shanghai for the weekend but can’t face the slog of dragging your arse across the country, then Hangzhou is just the spot for you. An hour out of the city by high speed train you can get in your tent and get close (ish) in no time.

Toilets and kitchens are built into each tent so there is no icky sharing facility situation. You can spend a weekend chilling and pretending you’re in your own little canvas bubble.

Crazy Glamp in Tibet

Okay, so this would be a bit of a bigger trip. But still, what an amazing way to see the Tibet plains!? Cocktail in hand, electric blanket warming up your bed and an absolutely stunning view.

There are only four yak-hair tents for rent at this glamping site, so it’s going to be peaceful. They can each accommodate up to two people. They have nice beds, wood floors, and they are heated with wood fires. A toilet is provided outside of each vacation rental, and inside, they each have a sink. They also have log cabins if you want to upgrade from a tent.
