7 Places for Awesome Wings in Shanghai
There are a million places now to grab a light, healthy meal around the city. That’s not really what we’re interested in today though, no, we’re looking at some of the best places to go wrist-deep in a hot, spicy pile of chicken wings. Here are five fantastic choices.
Goose Island Brewhouse

They’re not the cheapest wings around, but daaaaaamn they’re good. Applewood smoked chicken wings (pictured above) come with glazed Bourbon County Stout BBQ Sauce and are served with a tangy, mayonnaise based white Alabama sauce.
The Rooster

The Rooster has a wide selection of bar snacks but one of the frontrunners is their spot-on selection of chicken wings. There are seven sauces to choose from, with the General Tso’s and classic Buffalo being our favorites, and they’re even half-priced on Tuesdays. Wash them down with any number of drink specials they have throughout the week and BOOM.

Ok, don’t judge, apart from the gimmicky branding and the weird sexist concept behind this restaurant, they actually have awesome wings. In addition to their classic American flavors such as 3Mile and Daytona, they also have more local friendly flavors such as Sichuan Hot. That’s why we go, just for the wings. That’s it.
Boxing Cat

There are a million reasons to go to Boxing Cat, but one of the most compelling might be their wings. You have two options: the Sesame Glazed Wings, which are sweet, tangy and cost RMB 75 for a dozen. Or there’s the Korean Style Fried Chicken Wings and Pickles, with Sriracha aioli and sweet garlic soy dipping sauces for RMB 60. Both are serious winners.

Shanghai Brewery is known mostly for their selection of regular and seasonal craft beers, but oh boy are the chicken wings worth a try. With their tangy and spicy sauce, they’re about as close to good ol’ American Buffalo wings as it gets in Shanghai.

The Shed is where you go for late night drink-a-thons with a fun crowd of sports/beer loving regulars. So it would seem like the perfect place to find some killer chicken wings, and indeed it is. It’s even more perfect if you go on Wednesday wings night when you can get them for RMB 2 per piece.
