Become a Beast with Animal Martial Arts and Fitness

2017-12-17 ShanghaiWOWeng

Shanghai has a local Wonder Woman who is bringing her passion for women’s empowerment to the ring with a new martial arts studio. Meet Rebecca Heintzman-Rozewski: a professional MMA fighter who has started a new studio to share her passion with others. And she’s not just a professional MMA fighter – she’s a damn good one.

Her MMA journey started in 2009 when she moved to New York to pursue her PhD. She was on a track to become a professor when she discovered MMA, and was attracted instantly. After making the difficult decision to leave her program, she moved to China with her to-be husband Kyle and continued training to be an MMA fighter.

When I met Rebecca I expected to meet a serious and large person, because you know, she fights people for a living. I was sorely mistaken, however, and was met with a petite and super friendly person I wanted to get to know better. Her physiology is proof that you don’t need to be big to win a fight, but instead use the right techniques and training.

Rebecca has a total of 13 MMA fights under her belt, with experience in the US and China. While teaching English in Shanghai and winning fight after fight, she and her husband decided to start their own studio. She has an immense passion for women’s empowerment, especially in fitness, and couldn’t think of a better way to do that than teach women herself.

Located just three stations north of Jingan Temple on line 7, her studio is adorned with her and her husband’s trophies and belts from their many, many wins. The space is brand new and ready to convert soft bodies into fighters.

Their classes feature self-defense, mixed martial arts, and functional training fitness classes. They have all of the equipment for functional training to tone you up. Fighting is strenuous, after all.

They’ve already launched their soft-opening with some classes and private events. They plan to have their grand opening just after Christmas, and are offering some soft opening discounts on memberships.

Don’t be mistaken; the studio isn’t women only, but is especially women friendly with their weekly self-defense classes. To learn more or get started, add Rebecca on WeChat. Grab those soft-opening discounts while you can before Christmas.

Address: 1715 N. Zhongshan Road, Building E, Room 2101 (Near Zhenping road station)

Soft opening prices: Drop in 200rmb; 10 class pass 1500rmb; unlimited 6 months 8500
