Don’t let the cold weather get you down in the dumps this winter. Shanghai is one of the biggest cities on the planet so OF COURSE there’s plenty to keep you busy. Here are 50 fun things to do this winter. 



1. Go to Flair Rooftop Bar and admire the Bund skyline from the top of Shanghai’s highest terrace.



2. Spend a luxury night in Aman Resorts Shanghai for a whopping RMB 6000 per night! It’s the fourth branch in China and the most expensive hotel in the country. It officially opens on January 8th.



3. Treat yourself to a coffee in the biggest Starbucks in the world.



4. Go for a romantic stroll along Yueyang Lu, which has been transformed into a winter art gallery.



5. Eat some classic Cantonese cuisine at the newly reopened Canton Table.



6. Appreciate the beauty of flowers at the Ninagawa Flower Exhibition, or try some of the dishes associated with it.



7. Listen to a stunning New Year concert. This year, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra will be ushering you into the New Year.



8. Check out Qiancai Shufang (bookstore), which has a new theme: Eileen Chang.



9. Pop into the stunning Paramount, which offers extravagant 360 degree KTV rooms, live performances and a stunning dance floor.



10. Experience the romance of Paris at Terroir Parisien.



11. Go to the world’s second Bellagio Hotel and imagine you’ve been transported to Italy! With crystal chandeliers and spiral staircases, you’ll feel like royalty for the night.



12. Relax and wander round Gentspace, a high-end menswear brand, and build your own (or your partner’s) new Italian-style wardrobe.



13. Check out Flask bar, which reopened this past autumn.



14. Try your first French BBQ at Paris Blanc, or if you’re not that hungry try their elegant afternoon tea.



15. Conquer picky taste buds with mouthwatering cake from BoboLEE - yes, they’ve finally opened a physical store.



16. Attempt to get into the ultra-exclusive Chinese restaurant You Yin, where only nine customers are accepted per day.



17. Check out the Shanghai Pearl Art Museum, which just opened on December 30th.



18. Hit the new Aegean shopping center, which cost RMB 10 million to build and covers 550,000 square meters.



19. Hit the new Lady M store in Xintiandi, which is even bigger and better than the last one. There are three new cakes, including a delicious Earl Grey tea flavored one.



20. Reserve a table at Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet, which was awarded 3 Michelin stars this year. Warning: It might set you back around RMB 6,000 per person...



21. Spend a romantic night with your other half at W Hotel on the Bund. 



22. Dance the night away at the enormous electronic empire that is TAXX SHANGHAI, a whopping 3,000 square meters of futuristic club space.



23. The former US presidents Bush, Obama and Clinton have all tried Peet’s Coffee. So why haven’t you?!



24. Chill out at the new French-style Lounge Bund 8 and admire the city lights all night.



25. Enjoy an authentic Japanese meal at Gingko Restaurant & Bar.



26. Eat your heart out at the new Chikalicious! It’s crazy popular in New York, and now we’re lucky enough to have one here in Shanghai. Aside from all their cakes, they also have over 150 different types of champagne.



27. Try Horiguchi Coffee, which has been nicknamed “the father of fine Japanese coffee.” 



28. REALLY treat yourself to a RMB 1,000,000 package deal at Naked Castle.



29. Sip on a magical cocktail at Blackstone Magic Bar.



30. Pop over to Hongqiao Aegean shopping park to see an unusual Xinhua bookstore. This place was designed by Tadao Ando himself.



31. Admire the fireworks at Teamlab! This is certainly a romantic way to see get through winter.



32. Check out the first Asian exhibition of Antoni Gaudi’s work. It’s been in the preparation phase for over 2 years and features over 1 million handmade mosaics, as well as 40 of Gaudi’s own collection.



33. Book a private dining room on the Bund where you can enjoy the view and enjoy a delicious meal cooked just for you.



34. Eat and read a good book at Gourmet Library.



35. Lian Quan Da Jiang open-air hot spring officially opens in January 2018. It occupies an area of 20,000 square meters, and it’s saturated with pure Japanese-style relaxation and service.



36. Take a day trip to Shanghai’s enormous granary. 



37. Work those legs at SpaceCycle where you can take a round trip from Europe to the US.



38. Meditate for a weekend at Hangzhou’s super relaxing Amanfayun.

 


39. Grab a date and check out some of Shanghai’s incredible western-style Michelin restaurants.



40. Behave like a true gentleman at the newly opened Hitachino Mansion. Relax with a cigar in one hand and a whiskey in the other.



41. Entrecote Steakhouse has been huge in France for 70 years, and now we get to try it too here in Shanghai. The top quality beef here is enough to warm us up all winter.



42. Enjoy an incredible chicken hot pot at Loushang Huoguo on Maoming Nan Lu.



43. Head over to Shiliupu Marina, where you can enjoy top Cantonese cuisine at Mohuan Restaurant.



44. Do as the Sichuanese do in Winter and gorge on as much hot pot as you can.



45. Have a wander down Donghu Lu and pop into the pink Beverly Bar. You might even end up staying the night.



46. The 300 square meter Vanilla is not just a restaurant, but also a museum.



47. In Xintiandi check out Blondel, a European chocolate shop with 167 years of history.



48. Try out some of the bars and bottle shops on Danshui Lu in Xintiandi.



49. Go try some Tiger Shots at Flask entrance shop Tiger Bites.



50. Try some perfect, modern Japanese at Xime.
