Mobike's New Score System Charges Bad Users More Money

2018-02-27 ShanghaiWOWeng

You may have noticed some new features on your Mobike account recently, mainly that you have a credit score that can affect how much you’re charged for a ride. The new system is a response to mounting pressure on the company to clean up its act (i.e. get users to stop mistreating bikes and leaving them all over the place).

Mobike Scores will now be divided into 5 categories: Outstanding (701-1000), Excellent (601-700), Good (501-600), Fair (301-500), and Poor (0-300). There are a lot of details to read through, but this is probably the most noteworthy phrase: If you have a 'Poor' Mobike Score, Mobike will in the future charge you 100 times the normal ride fee for every 30 minutes of use.” Yikes.

You can find all the details by opening up the app, including how these scores, which will be updated monthly, are increased and decreased.

And here's what they offer up for rules and regulations:

Rules and Regulations

The new Mobike Score takes into consideration your day-to-day usage, habits and other behaviors, and is updated monthly. A higher Mobike Score shows that you are an excellent Mobike user; by observing traffic rules and using the bikes properly, you will not only maintain a higher Mobike Score, but will gain access to even more services in the future. Most importantly, you will play a part in ensuring Mobike remains a safe, orderly and smooth transport network and benefit for the community. Your old credit will be incorporated into your new Mobike Score.

The new Mobike Score consists of two parts, the behavior points of the old Mobike Score and the data measurements of historical riding habits.

Your Mobike Score will be calculated monthly. You will receive a higher Mobike Score by using the bikes properly and regularly. On the other hand, your Mobike Score will drop if the system registers any negative behavior.

Your Mobike Score is divided into 5 categories: Outstanding (701-1000), Excellent (601-700), Good (501-600), Fair (301-500), and Poor (0-300). A high Mobike Score shows that you have been exemplary in your bike use and you will be rewarded with more benefits in the future. If you have a 'Poor' Mobike Score, Mobike will in the future charge you 100 times the normal ride fee for every 30 minutes of use. If you have an 'Fair' Mobike Score, Mobike will in the future charge you double the normal ride fee. In addition, you will not be able to access the booking, monthly card, and ride voucher functions.

How can I increase my Mobike Score?

1. Observe traffic rules, and ride in a safe and orderly manner.

2. Park the bike so that it is easier for the next user to access it (i.e. within designated white-lined areas, when available).

3. Do not abuse the bikes; keep them clean.

4. Support the platform by using the bikes regularly.

What will cause my Mobike Score to drop?

1. Riding bikes in an unsafe manner and ignoring traffic rules.

2. Parking bikes in off-limits areas such as in residential properties, basements, building lobbies and active bike lanes.

3. Obstructing other people.

4. Vandalizing bikes, such as installing personal locks or removing the seat.

5. Other civil violations while using the bikes.

Why did my Mobike Score drop? Can I file an appeal?

1. A lower Mobike Score is a result of points being deducted due to negative behaviors during the previous month.

2. You can file an appeal against the Mobike Score point deduction on the Score Records page in the app.

3. After filing an appeal, you can check the status at My Feedback.
