2018-03-25 Claire L. Squire ShanghaiWOWeng

Shanghai WOW! has teamed up with People For Pets, a local Shanghai animal rescue organization, to help do our bit to find some of these cute little critters a loving home. Whether you’re looking to adopt, donate or volunteer we have all the info for you right here.

A little bit about People For Pets…

People For Pets rescues and funds treatment of medical conditions for Shanghai’s sick and stray animals. P4P started 3 years ago and has so far helped more than 200 animals, many of whom suffered terrible injuries requiring lengthy recoveries. Happily, they are now in good homes in China and throughout the world. They also help many animals indirectly, providing information to owners, such as export procedures and information on veterinary treatment in Shanghai. P4P is committed to transparency in charity; proudly having an open book policy.

So let’s get down to business, take a look at the little darlings looking for love.

Harry

Age: 12

Health: Vaccinated, neutered, blind in one eye

Size: Small

Harry’s rescue story: Harry was found on the street wearing a coat, indicating that he was lost. We made a flyer trying to find his owner but were not successful. Sadly, we found he had a microchip and called the registered owner, who informed us that Harry was lost in 2011 and that he didn’t want him back. We are looking for a forever home for this sweet, old boy.

Gemma

Age: 2

Health: Vaccinated, Rabies and Microchip, Spayed

Size: Small

Gemma’s rescue story: Gemma was found on the streets of Pudong with a pack of dogs in a very busy area. She had delivered puppies previously and was very scared of people. Today, she is a delightful dog, affectionate to those she knows and very well behaved!

Jay Jay

Gender: Male

Age: 1

Health: Vaccinated, Rabies and Microchip, neutered

Size: Medium

Jay Jay’s rescue story: Jay Jay was rescued at the end of 2017 with a fractured leg. He had surgery to fix the fracture, which healed nicely and he can now run very well! Jay Jay loves people, he is good with other dogs and is very sociable. He makes a perfect companion and has a wonderful personality. We think he’s quite handsome, too!

Beauty

Gender: Female

Age: 1 year

Health: Vaccinated, Rabies and Microchip, Spayed

Size: Medium

Beauty’s rescue story: Thankfully Beauty is a smart dog and knew who to ask for help when she needed it. She approached a rescuer in Pudong for help. She was starving and her skin was covered in demodex mites and fungus. She spent 2 months in hospital having intensive treatment before being well enough to go to a foster home. Beauty loves dogs, cats and kids and would make a wonderful addition to any family.

Ella

Gender: Female

Age: 2 years

Health: Vaccinated, Rabies and Microchip, will be spayed in one week

Size: Medium

Ella’s rescue story: Ella is one of the nicest dogs we have ever rescued. She approached us one cold December night, seeming to sense that she would be helped. She was very hungry and we noticed that she was heavily pregnant. Ella followed us to the car and we took her straight to the vets, where one week later she gave birth to 5 puppies. She was an exceptional mother, with infinite patience and is calm, sweet and is now enjoying the peace and quiet after her pups have left

Wolf

Gender: Male

Age: 3.5 months

Health: Vaccinated

Size: Medium

Wolf’s rescue story:  Wolf is the son of Ella. He is brave and smart. He is both playful, affectionate, and calm and assertive. During playtime he is always the first to explore new areas. Sometimes he gets too excited that he doesn't know his boundaries so he would playfully bite your arms or legs. But during food time he is the calmest and most patient one. He always waits quietly for his food, doesn't fight for food with his siblings, and he is very gentle when giving him treats. Wolf doesn't use the pee pads. He prefers to go to the toilet as far away fr 50 29695 50 14939 0 0 3466 0 0:00:08 0:00:04 0:00:04 3466om his bed as possible. If trained and walked properly he should learn to go to toilet outdoor in no time.

Bebe

Gender: Female

Age: 3.5 months

Health: Vaccinated

Bebe’s rescue story: Bebe is also Ella’s baby. Bebe, like the name, is the baby girl in the family. She is small, quiet, and very gentle. Bebe is very easy going. She likes to be pampered, is extremely affectionate, and gets along with kids and other dogs. Bebe can easily be trained to use pee pads if given rewards.

Unfortunately adoption isn’t for everyone…

If you’re not in a position to adopt there is still plenty you can do. You can foster, volunteer your time or be a flight companion. For more information on this please add this WeChat ID: people4pets or scan the QR code below.

For some people time is tricky to come by and our landlords won’t let us have pets, if you want to give a helping hand anyways you can do so by donating money towards medical, boarding and rescue costs. Every single RMB counts guys, so be generous and cough up!

People 4 Pets has an open book policy so every single penny you donate really does go towards helping animals in need.
