2018-04-10 ShanghaiWOWeng

Are you wondering when the highly-anticipated Shanghai Shimao Wonderland InterContinental Hotel will finally open? Picturing what Shanghai’s top J Hotel will look like? Do you want to stay updated on how the Bvlgari Hotel project is coming along?

We have it all right here!

Shanghai Shimao Wonderland InterContinental Hotel Is Finally Here.

This new 5-star hotel has been rumored to officially open in May in Songjiang, Shanghai, and will run as one of InterContinental’s flagship hotels in China. Its unique design has already captured the curious attention of many by offering guest rooms located as low as 65 meters below water surface, thus becoming the world’s lowest-standing 5-star hotel.

The entire project was planned and designed by the Shanghai-based design studio JADE+QA, and led by British architect Martin Jochman. The team used an old quarry as the construction site, which features three main areas for this 19-story giant: the land, the quarry’s water surface, and an underwater section.

The interior of the hotel was designed by the CCD group, which blended some of the quarry’s natural elements with an oriental theme on the inside.

While the design of the land surface remains relatively straightforward and uses greenery to create a more natural environment, the quarry’s water surface will feature an 8-meter high glass waterfall wall in its main building, with a breathtaking panoramic view of the mountains.

You will also find a beautiful 180-degree observation deck made of wood and gold, which adds a luxurious and natural look and feel to the guest experience.

Each of the 300+ guest rooms available both above and below water surface comes with its own balcony, thereby allowing guests to enjoy the waterfall from the comfort of their own space.

The most talked-about section of the hotel, however, has been its underwater basement which stands on two separate floors, the lower of which will feature several sporting and entertainment facilities that include a bungee jumping center, an underwater restaurant, a swimming pool and a mall.

10 Years in the Making: Shanghai J Hotel Becomes the World’s Highest Hotel

Shanghai is shaking up the hospitality industry by breaking two records this year: one for the world’s lowest-standing hotel, and another for hosting the highest-standing hotel with the grand opening of the Shanghai J Hotel, a whopping RMB 10 billion project built at the top of the second tallest tower in the world.

Managed by Jinjiang International and also designed by the CCD group, the hotel will occupy all levels between the 84th and 110th floors of the Shanghai Tower in Lujiazui, with a hotel lobby located on the 101st floor.

You will also find a Japanese restaurant on the 102nd floor, a Chinese restaurant on floors 103 and 104, as well as a secret-themed restaurant on the 105th level.

From the look of the images that the group has released, it appears the hotel will follow an oriental, high-end interior design theme.

Its expected opening date, however, remains a mystery.

Asia’s Fourth Bvlgari Hotel Sets Its Eyes on Shanghai

In 2001, Bvlgari partnered with Marriott Hotel to open their own series of luxury hotels around the world which, for the past 17 years, have included cities like Milan, Dubai and Beijing. This year, the group is set to open the world’s sixth and Asia’s fourth Bvlgari Hotel here in Shanghai.

While the overall design of the hotel is managed by the famous Foster + Partners design company, the interior has been overseen by designers Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel. The hotel will, logically, occupy the top 8 floors of the 48-story Bvlgari building.

It offers a total of 82 rooms, 63 of which will be sold as guest rooms, while the remaining 19 will open as luxurious suites. The listed surface of their rooms starts at a comfortable 60-meters square. The black and white color scheme used exposes the classic Italian opulence, and pairs well with the handmade furniture present all around, thus highlighting the company’s focus on detail and quality.

A hotel wouldn’t be complete without its set of dining facilities, and Bvlgari Hotel does not shy away from offering the best: expect to find a mix of cuisines ranging from Italian and Chinese (Bao Li Xuan) as well as a Bvlgari Chocolate store, an Italian garden, and a rooftop bar - La Terrazza - which offers a large terrace with a panoramic view of the buzzing city.

The Italian restaurant occupies 3 floors on its own and serves more than 500 types of wine and champagne from all corners of the globe, as well as healthy dishes cooked using organic ingredients.

A portion of the former Shanghai General Business Council will be used as part of the hotel and the Bao Li Xuan restaurant, which has preserved a 1916 look and feel, and will be serving mostly Cantonese dishes.

And as if all this wasn’t enough, the Bvlgari Hotel will also be home to the city’s most luxurious water therapy center spanning an impressive 2000 meter square surface with 8 separate therapy rooms, manicure, pedicure and massage services, and a green garden. High-end European water therapy products are used.

The House Collective Opens Its Fourth Hotel in China.

Currently in its final stage of completion, The House Collective will soon open its doors in Shanghai and will become the group’s fourth location in China. It is located in the popular neighborhood of Xingye Taikoo Hui and surrounded by a plethora of shopping options. The hotel’s rounded architecture gives it a memorable, sleek and clean look from the outside, and cleverly sets it apart from the other buildings in the area.

The hotel was designed by interior designer Piero Lissoni from Milan, who used a minimalist and modern approach to designing the entire space. In addition to the classic Italian lines and design, he also incorporated various nautical elements into the building:

Lissoni used oriental bed heading, modern lights and long chairs in each of the Yong She guest rooms to create an interesting modern adaptation of traditional Chinese furniture. The living room uses a transparent “room separator” to provide the illusion of an even more spacious environment.

Each room is decorated using Chinese art pieces to further highlight the country’s unique culture, which can already be appreciated when opening the hotel’s wooden doors, carved with Chinese engravings.

The hotel will be also be housing the popular Cafe Gray Deluxe from Hong kong, whose kitchen will be run by New York chef Gray Kunz, as well as a multitude of dining and drinking options.

The hotel’s design, inspired by the era of the 1920s and 1930s and following the group’s motto of “Simplicity Is Beauty” using a dominating wooden interior, will be overseen by the Ru’en Design Research Institute and includes 10 levels of public space, featuring 145 guest rooms across more than 265 square meters.

Dining outlets include 3 high-end restaurants, an all-day dining venue, 3 lounge bars, an indoor nightlife venue, and 2 rooftop bars.

Shanghai’s Answer to Outdoor Hospitality: The Anandi Hotel and Spa

Healing Hotels of the World was originally launched by the LHW Group as the world’s first chain of wellness hotels which have been frequented by many A-list celebrities and politicians, including English Royalty, Bill Gates, the Clintons, Oprah, Madonna, and Nicole Kidman.

The Anandi Hotel and Spa, part of the Healing Hotels group and located in Hongqiao near Suzhou Creek, is expected to open later this year and aims to become a global icon for a true healing experience.

It caters to business guests by using wide, floor-to-ceiling windows in any of their 19 conference rooms, as well as wedding and regular guests who can use one of the hotel’s 3 banquets to celebrate a special occasion with their loved ones.

The interior uses mainly wooden elements paired with a yellow color scheme. Himalayan salt lamps and other natural elements help turn your visit into a matchless stay. Guest rooms use energy-saving tiles and bathtubs made of natural stones to add to the natural and healing experience.
