4 Ways to Get Rid of Your Sh*t After Spring Cleaning

2018-04-15 Ryan ShanghaiWOWeng

Spring is in full swing, which means spring cleaning is (or should be) as well. But instead of throwing away those old shoes and hoodies, why not donate them to help those in need (and/or get a free beer out of it). Here are four great ways to donate your old stuff.

Heart to Heart Shanghai

Donate: Heart to Heart would love to have goods you’d like to donate. Donated items are given to our sponsored children/their families when they check into the hospital for their heart surgery or the items are taken to villages, orphanages, etc. which need them. The need for donations is continuous. The recipients appreciate anything you have to give – especially any new or gently used clothing (adult or children), shoes, toiletries (from hotels, airplanes, etc. or full-sized), bedding, toys, etc. that you might want to donate. The only things they can’t take are breakable, electronic, or extremely large items. When you have accumulated donated goods, please let them know by writing to donations@h2hsh.net. Heart to Heart can then let you know what a good time to drop them off to their sorting/storage room might be.

Donation details: Deliveries should be taken to Yodak Cardio-Thoracic Hospital in Puxi. Just call DJ (18516254244) or Karen (13916295852) when you arrive at the parking lot and they can help get the items to our sorting room. For questions or more info you can also contact donations@h2hsh.net

About H2H: Heart to Heart is a special fund of both Shanghai Charity Foundation and Ren De Foundation. They are a Shanghai-based charity which provides corrective surgery for Chinese children from all over China with congenital heart defects (CHD) whose parents are unable to afford the surgery. To date, H2H has sponsored over 1,174 children for heart surgery. The surgeries not only saved their lives, but transformed the lives of their families.

H&M

H&M has run a hugely successful clothing donation operation since 2013. You can take any unwanted clothing/garments to any H&M store any time of year. The best part: if you do this, you’ll receive 15% discount on whatever you purchase that day in the store.

Panda Bins

You can find close to 1000 of these donation boxes all around the city. Just look for the distinctive panda design. Your unwanted clothing and goods will all be recycled or donated to those in need. Sadly there's no map or guide to where they are located, so you'll just have to keep your eyes peeled or ask around.

The Rooster

Every now and again, The Rooster has a fun clothing/goods drive where you can donate your old stuff and even get a beer out of it! Their next event will be on Saturday, April 21st from 3:30pm until late. Donate any of your old stuff (please make sure it is still in wearable condition) and you’ll be handsomely rewarded with a free pint of Vedett. All donation will go to those in need.
