1. Chenshan Botanical Gardens

2. 1933 Slaughterhouse

Built in 1933 by Chinese developers, the site was originally intended for use as a slaughterhouse but served a number of purposes over the years from medicine factory, cold storage facility, to its current incarnation as a ‘commercial hub for creative industries’. Definitely one of our top picks for most interesting construction in Shanghai, this is a surefire way to manipulate lighting and angles for an artistic photoshoot.

Much like 1933, Tianzifang has transformed itself from historical residential architectures (Shikumen or stone-framed houses) into a very trendy (albeit touristy) area with ample bars, cafes, galleries, boutiques, and studios. Locals, hipsters, and tourists alike flock here to explore the novelties that bury themselves in the lanes of Tianzifang.

7. Wuyuan Lu

One of the many trendy Shanghai streets in the expat-ridden area of Xuhui. Lane houses and tiny boutiques can serve as the perfect focus for your “#ihaveathingfordoors” posts.
8. Wulumuqi Lu

Coming in as a close second on our list of favorite streets is the neighboring Wulumuqi Lu, home to many popular stores (Culture Matters is your go-to Feiyue stop) AND DELISH eateries. Take a cool OOTD post or a mouth-watering food snap.
