7 Famous Theme Parks Coming to Shanghai Soon!
When it comes to large amusement parks in Shanghai Jinjiang, Happy Valley and the buzzworthy Disneyland probably come to mind first, right? Well, if you’re getting bored of visiting these old park don’t fret – there are seven new theme parks expected to arrive in Shanghai very soon. Woohoo!
Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park

Culminating in 20 years worth of evolution in China’s ocean parks, this new one is expected to have six exhibition venues, three large-scale interactive performance venues, two large-scale cinemas and over 10 recreational facilities.

The most exciting part is the “super-bowl” that enables people to watch penguins up-close, something you might not have been able to experience in other aquariums here.

What’s more, there will also be exhibition venues showcasing whales, sharks, jellyfish, dolphins and manatees.

Shanghai Peppa Pig Theme Park

This internationally-popular animated television show for young kids has been a huge hit over the years, even in China. Now you don’t only have to view the cute characters on screen, you can see them in real life in Shanghai too!

With seven outdoor recreational facilities that recreate several famous scenes from the show, kids will be able to take pictures with their favorite characters, buy cute dolls and even jump through muddy puddles just like peppa!

Hello Kitty Indoor Park

Shimao Property and Sanrio have joined hands to create a Hello Kitty indoor park that will cover an area of 6,000 sqm in Shanghai and it’s the only one with the Old Shanghai theme across the country.
This is definitely big news for Hello Kitty Fans.

Located on Nanjing Dong Lu, from the 8th-10th floor of Shanghai Shimao Square, this is a large themepark in downtown Shanghai.

Sanrio Puroland in Japan has four floors in total and hosts various musicals, restaurants, attractions, and themed rides using popular characters such as Hello Kitty, My Melody, Cinnamoroll, Jewelpet and many more.

LEGOLand Shanghai

A branch of the LEGOland amusement park is due to open in Shanghai soon too!
With an aim to establish a kingdom of construction toys by incorporating elements of Jiangnan culture, LEGOland Shanghai is rumoured to follow the traditional architectural style of Zhouzhuang – one of China’s renowned water towns.

As a whole, LEGOland will consist of LEGO Technic, LEGO Kingdoms, Imagination, Land of Adventure, LEGO city and MINILAND – all including a variety of rides, attractions and even water park!

Once you get tired of playing, you’ll also be able to treat yourself to a mouthwatering meal in one of LEGO’s restaurants where lots of awesome food await you: French fries in the shape of construction toys, hotdogs and more.

Shanghai Ice and Snow World

Shanghai is due to have a HUGE ski resort covering an area of around 213,000 sqm next year!

Complete with an indoor ski slope holding a width of 124m, this is said to be able to hold several thousands of people skiing at the same time.

Dargaud Theme Park

It is said that the park will include a 40,000 sqm outdoor playground, a 20,000 sqm indoor amusement park and a hotel with 200 rooms in total.
