Known for its selection of high-end retail stores, luxury boutique hotels and home to a few Fortune 500 companies including Starbucks largest roastery in the world last year, it goes to show that Jing’an district is not slowing down anytime soon. So where do you go if you need a little R&R from a busy day? Here are five cafés in Jing’an that are perfect if you need to chillax and unwind.

There is also a gorgeous terrace, which makes it the perfect location to give your brain a well needed rest.

Located on Fenyang Rd near Henderson Place, DNA Café is a spacious and quiet all chillax’ed café (which also has a food menu) that is great for hashing out ideas, working and most of all---it's instagrammer free.
Half of the restaurant has long workspaces, but the two-seater tables are just as suitable for a “day at the office.” Despite not having enough power sockets for every table, the bright ambience of the café is perfect for the creative mind. Upstairs of this coffee shop is world-recognized advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi, so sometimes you can catch a bit of the “Mad Men” in action.
If you've had enough of drinking coffee, you can try some of their specialty latte. Their Red Velvet Latte (RMB38) is light on the palette, and the pretty latte art certainly brightens up the afternoon.

This newly opened café is a little gem on Yuyuan Lu. Not only is this café located on the quiet side of Yuyuan Lu, but it has a great selection of cakes and premade sandwiches. But that is not all. They have an amazing selection of baked goods from the classic Pain au Chocolat to croissants as well as pie. Their blueberry crumble pie is certainly one worth indulging. It comes in a small portion so if you eat two of them, you wouldn’t really feel guilty.
Latte and Blueberry Crumble Pie, RMB68
Aside from the food, the two-story café is the answer for anyone who enjoys working outside. Each seat has its own power outlet. At the time of writing, everyone here had their laptop plugged in and fingers busy at work.
The bright and intimate café is full of natural light. Additionally, everyone in the café is respectful of the noise they make so the only sound you can hear is the coffee machine and the relaxing soulful music from the sound system. Perfect for a weekend gathering or a mid-afternoon working sesh, this will be on one of my favorite café’s to visit.

This is a good place to rest your feet if you need some quiet thinking space in between meetings or just an afternoon away from your desk if you are nearby. It is quieter than some of the coffee shops surrounding the area, so if you are looking to have a relaxing afternoon to collect your thoughts, this will be one place to visit.
