After completion, it will become the largest green park in urban Shanghai.The northern area of the park, which opened recently, spans 85 hectares. Photo from Shanghai Expo Culture ParkWorld Expo Garden is located north of the park, covering about 72,000 ㎡.The central lawn covers 10,000 ㎡ and is surrounded by a European-style garden on the east, a 100-meter wisteria corridor on the southwest side, and a magnolia forest on the north.The Former France PavilionThe France Pavilion is like a "White Palace" that "floats" on water. The roof garden at the top of the pavilion provides a panoramic view of the Huangpu River.With the sparkling blue light effect, the France Pavilion at night resembles flowing water. The Former Russia PavilionThe former Russia Pavilion consists of 12 towers that appear to be "hanging in the air."The towers have white, gold and red patterns, symbolizing traditional Russian culture.
It is still a popular spot for visitors since 2010.The Former Luxembourg PavilionThe former Luxembourg Pavilion is structured like a fortress and is surrounded by medieval towers.The entire area spans 1300 ㎡ and looks like an open-concept forest.The Former Italy PavilionThe Italy Pavilion has 20 sections representing the 20 regions in Italy. The whole pavilion resembles a small Italian city.The different sections divided by lines add flexibility to its interior space. Shanghai Garden incorporates elements of Jiangnan gardens and has a total area of up to 50,000 ㎡. The overall plan includes a hill on the north, water area on the south, and two gardens respectively on the east and the west.Shanghai Garden has eight main scenic spots that visitors can look forward to.At sunset, the view of the whole Shanghai Garden from the north hill is breath-taking.In June, the lotus flowers will bloom across the lake.Among the rocks and trees, a delicate waterfall cascades down.
There is a pavilion for visitors to rest and admire the scene.Until February 15, 2022, Shanghai Garden holds a lantern night exhibition displaying more than 50 palace lanterns.
Winter EventsVarious Exhibitions and Entertainments
Until February 6, 2022, Shanghai Garden exhibits 280 pieces of stone bonsai.The exhibition includes bonsai with a history of more than 400 years.This exhibition also displays the works of Yin Zhimin, one of the first generation of bonsai masters, as well as the works of national bonsai masters, Wang Yuankang and Qiao Honggen.The park holds an off-season tulip exhibition.
300,000 tulips, including 35 varieties, is used to decorate the 400-meter-long Temporal Signet Avenue, all the way to Central Lake.From January 1st to February 15th (10:00-18:00), there is a grape flower market around France Pavilion on Fridays, weekends and official holidays. Visitors can not only admire and purchase flowers but also taste fine wines from all over the world. Besides, pop ups and games are here from time to time.The Houtan Riverside area is about 230,000 ㎡. It was the location of the old steel factory and ship repair shop.Reeds and plum trees are along the riverside. take a deep breath and feel the breeze. Pet Garden is located in the riverside area of The Houtan Riverside, covering an area of about 10,000 ㎡.It is a venue for dogs to play sports and socialize and for pet owners to bring their furry friends to enjoy leisure activities. The Shiyikong Bridge is located within the Central Lake, with a total length of about 75 m. It has a classic Chinese-garden stone bridge design.The tip and railings of the bridge have a “Magnolia” décor, and the deck has the design of “12 Flower Gods” engraved.
