Our video team is looking for talented writer/reporter and director for producing documentary style short videos. Shanghai WOW! documentary video will cover a variety of subjects from culture, architecture, design, lifestyle to businesses in Shanghai and China. All video will be published on both WeChat and YouTube.
You will be working with a team of talented director, writer, videographer, and editor to produce each film from beginning to end, and your work will be critical to the success of each film.
We are a fast paced working environment, where you need to think fast, act fast while being creative. Previous working experience in media is a must.

Job Responsibilities:
1. Work with a talented team of director, videographer, and editor to produce high quality short documentary film;
2. Film will cover a wide variety of subjects from culture, architecture, design, lifestyle to businesses in Shanghai and China;
3. For each project, you will work with film director to come up with a creative plan and entire storytelling;
4. You need to work independently to search for critical information, film archives as well as find key people to interview;
5. You will be involved in the shooting process of the video to ensure all important content are captured;
6. You will be responsible for all the voice over text and caption, you need to work with director and editor to complete the storyline, and finish with a flawless final product.
Qualifications:
1. Native English language speaker and writer ;
2. University degree in Communication, English, or related curriculum;
3. Excellent writing skill is a must, capable of writing top notch stories;
4. Possesses a wide range of knowledge from history, architecture to business; Capable of asking insightful questions, and knows what makes a story pop;
5. Able to work independently to locate the right people for interview and search for critical information from a wide range of sources that are key to the storytelling;
6. At least 2 years of working experience as a reporter or writer in the media industry;
7. Must be a strong team player and have demonstrated ability to work in a multi-language and multi-culture team environment;
8. Lived in Shanghai for at least one year, Chinese language skill is not required but is a plus to have.

Job Responsibilities:

3. You will be responsible for coming up with ideas for each film and assemble the right team to make the film;
4. You will lead the team to come up with the creative and decide on the style of the film, as well as planning the film production schedule and monitor the cost;
5. You will be responsible for all aspects of production from beginning to end, from creative, shooting on location, post-editing, voice-over, music, animation and etc.
6. You will be fully responsible for the final quality of the completed film.
Qualifications:
1. University degree in communication, film, or related curriculum;
2. At least 2 years of working experience producing documentary style video with a strong portfolio to demonstrate;
3. Strong leadership skill with prior experience of leading a small production team;
4. Possesses strong knowhow of producing high quality documentary film;
5. Have a very high standard for aesthetic and quality of a film, and able to direct editor to produce the final product;
6. Prior working experience with video graphing, lighting, and post editing with Final Cut or Premiere are also required;
7. At least 1 year of working experience in Shanghai or in China, Chinese language skill is not a must but a plus to have.
