Xixi Bistro is closing... tonight!

We got word last night that hugely popular Wuyuan Lu restaurant Xixi Bistro (and the new bar addition Xixi's Bedroom) is closing... tonight!

Following discussions with government officials regarding licensing issues (there's been a crack down on unofficial businesses in the area recently), the owners have confirmed that they're shutting doors. But before you get your tissues out, the upside is that hopefully they won't be closed for too long. 

They're planning to reopen in a month in the same location once they've got their papers in line. And if this doesn't happen, they're already in discussions with a landlord regarding a different - and bigger - location, 'without all the haters'.

It's still a crying shame for the owners, who have experienced huge popularity since opening last year with their Italian-Chinese dishes hitting all the right spots among diners - causing us to name it the best new Shanghai restaurant of 2015. 

But they're trying to remain positive, and are optimistic that the Xixi concept will remain in Shanghai.
