Where to watch Euro 2016 in Shanghai
With Euro 2016 kicking off this weekend, it is time to get out your patriotic face paint and oversized flags (or choose who you're backing this year if you don't happen to have been born in Europe).
It's a wide open tournament, and Shanghai supporters will be out in force despite the unsociable hours of many kick-offs. We round up the best deals around town to bring you through the biggest surprises and disappointments from June 10 to July 11.
Zapata's and Sasha's
These guys really take football seriously. After hosting the Champions League final, Zapata's and Sasha's return this summer with a dedicated fan zone in their shared courtyard. All games will be screened live in their outdoor tent with 'giant' screen.
Standing and seating tickets are available with the former priced at 100RMB which will include one litre of Heineken or 2 standard drinks and the latter priced at 200RMB for two litres of Heineken or 4 standard drinks. Bonus points to them - they have also designed a score sheet (with local times) to help you keep track of the progress of all the matches.
You can buy tickets for the Sasha's Euro 2016 Fanzone through Time Out Tickets on our website.
Tomatito
Spain may not have had the finest run-in to the tournament, but that's not stopping Tomatito from putting on a stellar deal (for the Spanish amongst us, at least). They will screen all of Spain's group stage matches, and are offering pintxos and tapas at only 10RMB each. Their sangria, beer and gin tonic are all going out at buy one get one free too.
The best of the rest
Living up to the name of a true sports bar, The Camel will screen all matches but there are no deals that they are offering for Euro 2016. The Shed recommends checking out their website for a comprehensive list of all the matches and timings that they will live telecast.
The Brew at the Kerry Parkside hotel will be showing all the matches in their comfortable surroundings with no cover charge too. Over at Big Bamboo, there is a 100RMB cover charge that will give you either 2 beers or 2 cocktails. But they guarantee that you will be able to watch the match from every seat with their multitude large screens. A number of bars including Shanghai Brewery and Cages will be showing certain matches, and they advise punters to check schedules on their websites before turning up.
At home
Given the kick off times for many of the games at Euro 2016, you could be forgiven for simply watching the tournament from the comfort of your own sofa or bed. CCTV5 will be showing most of the games live, or you can stick the words 欧洲杯直播 into Baidu and look for an online feed there.
Epermarket appears to be the only major online retailer currently offering any Euro 2016-related deals, with the banner ad on their website taking you through to a page of party sets, meats for barbecuing/grilling, crisps and beers.
