Get ready for these 7 food and drink festivals
Summer's done and there's no better time to start packing on that extra padding for the cold AF Shanghai winter that's just around the corner. Fortunately, you're in luck – here's seven food and drink festivals for your planner.
The Kerry Beer Festival
Everything is really kicking off next at the end of the month, with three different food and drink festivals around town. On Saturday and Sunday (24-25 September) over by Century Park, The Kerry Pudong will be hosting its craft beer bash, The Kerry Beer Festival. Expect a mix of boozy offerings that range from the hyper-local (The Kerry's own on-site brewery, The BREW) to the local (Boxing Cat Brewery and Westwood Ales) to regional (Nanjing's Master Gao) to the farther-flung (New Zealand's Moa Brewing Co). Also on tap will be a special collab beer between The BREW and Time Out - here's a look at how we'll be spending the day:

To keep things from getting too wild with a liquid-only diet, Shanghai faves like Pie Society, La Coyote and Tomatito, among others, will be on hand serving up snacks. Entry is free.
European Food Carnival
Also in Pudong and also this weekend, Italian luxury outlet mall Florentia Village will be hosting a European food festival, with vendors like The Urban Harvest and Bella Vita. A good one for it if you want to get your high-end shop on as Florentia will also be offering discounts at their retail outlets. The festival will be kicking off on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September and will carry on the following weekend (Oct 1-3). Entry is 50RMB with early bird tickets available here.
Shanghai Wine and Dine Festival
Third up for this weekend is the second Shanghai Wine and Dine Festival from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 September in the Expo Garden Park along the Huangpu. It's a massive affair. Last year saw 70,000 visitors over three days, and this year the sprawling event will offer over 150 different food and drink vendors throughout the park. Entry at the door is 70RMB on Friday and 90RMB on Saturday and Sunday, with discounts for groups of three or for purchasing online.
Shanghai's Oktoberfest
If you can't make it to Bavaria this autumn for the authentic Oktoberfest experience, Shanghai naturally has its own take on festivities. This year's ten day Oktoberfest celebration takes place at the Renaissance Shanghai from Tuesday 20-Friday 30 September, with music and dancing with Bodo Skawina and his Muenchen Musicanten Band, authentic German food and world famous Weihenstephan beer freshly flown in from Munich for the event. Prost! Tickets are 358-468RMB - you can buy them on Time Out Tickets.
Savour Festival
Singapore-bred Savour Festival will be returning to the The Hub from October 4 through October 7. Last autumn saw them bringing over noma co-founder Mads Refslund and 'Demon Chef' Alvin Leung of Bo Innovation (who just opened two Shanghai ventures on the Bund) among an all-star line-up of stalls by Shanghai's best-loved restaurants. Leung will be returning again for 2016's edition, along with five other big name chefs including Kirk Westaway of Michelin-starred Singapore eatery Jaan and Anthony Demetre of London restaurants Wild Honey and now-defunct Arbutus. Local grub spots like The Bull & Claw, Calypso and the dessert masters Chikalicious will also have booths serving up small bites. Entry at the door is 250RMB per person, with discounts for couples or trios and for purchasing online in advance.
West Bund Food Festival
Another one for your radar is the first West Bund Food Festival, also over the National Day holiday from October 1 to 7. The festival will be taking place on the riverbank near Yuz Museum on Longteng Dadao. They will also, surprise surprise, be boasting several international chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants. But there will also be higher-end Chinese options from well-known national brands like Dadong Roast Duck Restaurant and top-tier chef Corrado Michelazzo from 10 Corso Como will be repping Shanghai's international eats. Entry at the door starts from 60RMB, which allows afternoon entry and includes a free boozy drink. Evenings are more expensive with tickets at 80RMB.
FEAST
Finally, one for the diary but still with much TBC, Social Supply will be presenting its second installment of FEAST in November. May's inaugural rooftop event saw great eats from 12 of Shanghai's most exciting chefs, good vibes and just general dopeness. We're looking forward to details as they are confirmed.
