Eat a ramen burger at newly opened OH MY BURGER!
Four years after the ramen burger started taking many cities by storm, it's finally Shanghai’s turn to see what all the fuss is about (better late than never, eh). Just two weeks after opening, OH MY BURGER! is already causing a stir in the city with its noodle-bunned burger
The Ramen
Throw away all thoughts of boring buns – the Ramen (70RMB) features two pan-fried handmade ramen buns, with a solid beef patty, cheese, egg and rocket topped off with a ketchup-sriracha mix sandwiched in between. It's kinda crazy, but hard not to love. Warning: it's a messy eat as the ramen noodles don’t hold up for long, but it’s worth the mafan.
The Bao
And the burgers don’t just stop there. Owned by a Chinese-Swiss duo, the quaint but cool space is also home to seven other creative gourmet burgers, all with a strong East-meets-West focus. The Bao (65RMB) – steamed mantou buns with fried beer marinated chicken cutlet – is a pleasant surprise. Crunchy pickles and mayonnaise, while somewhat predictable on a fried chicken sammie, add a nice punch that liven up the soft, typically bland buns.
Then there's the Avocado Fish (70RMB) burger which boasts a filling of succulent pan-fried salmon slathered with smashed avocado and a refreshing mint coleslaw salad. Wonderfully flavoured, this multi-dimensional burger might just be our favourite.
The Vegan Only
The Vegan Only (65RMB) replaces buns with two big juicy portobello mushrooms caps. Not your typical bean-based veggie burger, this one features smashed avocados, sundried tomatoes and a tasty quinoa-kale patty.
And of course, there's the fries – 'cause what's a burger without fries? There are Cajun wedges (40RMB), crispy little potato sticks called 'Slims' (40RMB), fries double fried in duck fat (damn delicious and 50RMB) – take your pick, or have all three in one bowl (50RMB).
Alongside the team's regular burger offerings, they're also rolling out a rotating 'Monthly Selected' burger (70RMB) from July. So, all in all, if you're seeking something different from a bog-standard burger (and fries) OH MY BURGER! is in it to win it.
