12 great parties to check out this weekend

With another working week coming to an end it's time to blow off a little steam. Treat yourself to some drinks at one of Shanghai's excellent al fresco happy hours and then head out to party on into the early hours. THURSDAY 15

Mr. C

Former frontman of The Shamen and owner of legendary London club The End, Mr. C emerged as a pioneering force in the UK’s house music scene in 1987 and has continued to be instrumental in spreading global dance music. These days he’s known as an innovative producer of tech house and acid house.

NO (B)ORDER

NO (B)ORDER is about an open-minded attitude. Run by A-Collective, a multi-national, multi-disciplined creative collective, this monthly Thursday club night combines good music, good food and good art.

Pedro e Rafa with Lise Olsen

Pedro e Rafa with Lise Olsen bring the party set. Don’t be surprised if you hear Phoenix mixed with -90s hip-hop. Always a great vibe, join them for a beer and tequila shot.

SHFT. presents LOVE 4 MOON BEARS

Shanghai, Red8 and SHFT. have come together because quite simply they have mad love for MOON BEARS, and they want to throw a big dirty hip-hop party to raise money to get their homies out of their cages and into the Chengdu Bear Rescue Centre.

FRIDAY 16

SHFT. presents Krane

Known for his unique take on electronic, hip-hop and dance music, the Northern California-native has worked with notable artists from Dillon Francis to A-trak to Bebe Rexha, and recently on remixes for Baauer, Jai Wolf and Vince Staples.

Asian Vibes x Room 303 present Anetha

A resident of the Blocaus event in Paris, Anetha is a young techno DJ who has quickly become a prominent figure in the city’s underground scene. Oscillating between acid lines and strong grooves, she also dives into ’90s old school tracks. Support from MIIIA, Max Shen and Yoshinaga.

Sharam Jey

DJ, producer, label maker – Germany’s Sharam Jey is something of an all-rounder. He started in Cologne’s house and techno scene of the early ’90s and has had more than 100 releases since. His latest record label Bunny Tiger was named in Beatport’s top 10 labels in 2013 and that year dominated the nu-disco chart.

SATURDAY 17

GoldLink

Washington DC MC GoldLink is known for forward-looking hip hop and slick, danceable beats. He rose to the big time after swelling underground support and collaborations with Kaytranda, Rick Rubin and BadBadNotGood. His 2017 album At What Cost is a critically acclaimed portrait of his rapidly changing city.

Leo McG

Leo McG has played everywhere from warehouses to weddings. If you're looking for organic jams, low slung grooves, disco handclaps and 15-minute Afrobeat percussion work-outs, he's your man.

Djemba Djemba

Djemba Djemba is something of a producer to the stars, having worked with the likes of Madonna, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Katy Perry and Britney Spears. He’s best known for an EDM sound, but expect a bit of variety too.
