See The Chainsmokers, Nicky Romero and more at Ultra Shanghai

Jake Newby TimeOutShanghai 2019-04-11

Having taken their event brand around the world in recent years, big-time Miami-founded electronic music festival Ultra is finally landing in China. The Shanghai festival - booked in for early September - was first announced back in March, but now we finally have some more details about what to expect.

Headliners include Nicky Romero (watch below), Martin Garrix, Dubfire and The Chainsmokers. For fans of electronic music before it got branded as EDM there's also Carl Cox plus Sasha and John Digweed. Curtis, Moki and Nic Fanciulli have been announced too.

We also know that Ultra will be held in the Expo Garden Park - the spot next to Mercedes-Benz Arena that's hosted JZ and Strawberry festivals for the past few years - and will be taking place just a few weeks before the 2017 edition of Storm Festival. Ultra will be offering two stages: a main stage and a 'Resistance' stage, which seems set to feature a few slots for China-based acts.

Ticket info hasn't been officially confirmed, but word is that a two-day pass will set you back 1,280RMB. Want a VVIP table for you and your friends for two days? That'll be 35-80,000RMB according to some reports. So not cheap then.

A central part of Miami Music Week, Ultra festival was founded in 1999 and named after Depeche Mode's album from two years before. It's since grown into an major global affair, with Ultra spin-offs popping up everywhere from Ibiza to Buenos Aires.
