What's F45 and why is everybody hooked?

2017-08-05 TimeOutShanghai

Group training cult F45 has taken the world by storm over the past few years, expanding from a single studio in Sydney in 2014 to a fitness empire with 800 studios in 24 countries. And finally it’s muscled its way into Shanghai’s Jiashan Market, all glistening and bulging guns a-blazing.

Somehow both at once incredibly gruelling and impossibly fun, the 45-minute workouts have you rotating between stations that combine different elements from High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Circuit Training and Functional Training to target multiple muscle groups at all times. And every single workout is different, involving equipment like battle ropes, sleds, free weights, kettlebells, spinning bikes, box jumps and more.

Exercise instructions are delivered via televisions at each circuit station, while enthusiastic trainers, fellow F45-ers and a soundtrack of high-intensity hits curated by the group’s in-house DJ keep the energy levels cranked up to 11.

It’s a workout you’ll think about for days – and not just because it’s a struggle to get out of your chair.

As an introductory offer, F45 Xuhui is offering a free two-week trial for new users, to find out more or to sign up follow F45shanghai on WeChat.
