Taco Bell is finally coming to Puxi

Que pasa, Shanghai? Taco Bell numero dos is coming to Puxi!

It was pretty exciting when Taco Bell opened up in Lujiazui last year. After all, can any flourishing metropolis achieve true greatness without its own branch of the American-born Mexican fast food icon? Outside of the US, it's like a sign that your city's truly made it to the urban big leagues. However, the fact that the flagship locale planted itself on the east side of the Huangpu River came as a real blow to many of the brand's gordita-addicted fans.

But finally, Taco Bell is opening near Nanjing Xi Lu metro station, figuring out that the cool guys (like American giants White Castle, Goose Island Brewhouse and Hard Rock Cafe) hang out around the Fengsheng Lu lifestyle hub these days. Obviously great news for those of you who have spent the past nine months trucking it east for your MexiCali fast food delights.

No word on exactly when the joint will open its doors and let the nacho cheese flow down Maoming Bei Lu, but take comfort knowing that you can soon cease your cross-river commute for layered tacos.
