Brut Cake Café
Well-known in Shanghai's food-focused circuits, Brut Cake Café's chicken and waffles (78RMB) are usually exclusively for weekends. But through the holidays you can have them every day, should you fancy as the cosy Jingan spot is serving its full brunch menu all week. Available through Sunday 8.

Liquid Laundry
You usually have to suffer through until Saturday to get Liquid Laundry's popular weekend brunch, but this Golden Week it's on every day. Head in for bagels and shmears (25RMB), flights of bacon (68RMB), buttermilk biscuits (22RMB), Green Eggs and Ham (98RMB), cocktails, loads of beers on tap and more. Available through Sunday 8.

Cobra Lily
Spice up your holiday with Cobra Lily's Southeast Asian-fused brunch, with glorious sprinkles of lemongrass, Thai basil and crushed chillies atop dishes like the Siamese Sunrise (98RMB), a blazing plate of Chiangmai sausage hash with poached egg and kaffir nam prik (Thai-style chilli paste), plus sweet treats like passionfruit crepes (68RMB). It's not only burgers over here – Midnight Burger's new location comes equipped with a new menu, and that includes brunch. It's normally on for weekends only, but the team will be serving it up all week for the holiday, with dishes like waffles with cream and caramel (78RMB), Angus steak with hash browns and eggs (98RMB), 'rainbow cereal' (48RMB) and more. The Cannery
Okay, this isn't quite brunch, but it's a Golden Week meal available during that brunch time of day, so it still counts. That Cannery is putting on a picnic from midday to 5pm with whole roasted whole pig and lamb, cedar planked salmon from the fire pit and a full salad bar for 200RMB. Add on free-flow boozy magical punch, red and white wines and beer for 150RMB. Available from Thursday 5-Sunday 8.

Boxing Cat Brewery, Sinan Mansions
If you like a little brunch with your beer, you'll be glad to know you can go that route all week long. Grab a pint to wash down plates of short rib sweet potato hash (85RMB), griddled bread pudding French toast (50RMB), 'sloppy' croque madame (75RMB) and more. Available through Sunday 8.
