Speak Low named number 10 in The World's 50 Best Bars 2017
It's been a big year for the team at Speak Low. In February, they opened their second venue Sober Company (which came in at number 19 on Asia's 50 Best Bars in June). In July, founder Shingo Gokan won International Bartender of the Year at industry-famous Tales of The Cocktail Spirited Awards in New Orleans and the group's bar manager Atsushi Suzuki was crowned the Chivas Masters Global Champion. And now, Speak Low has just ranked number ten in The World's 50 Best Bars 2017.
The awards were announced last night in London. It's the first time that a bar from Mainland China has placed in the top ten on the globally recognised annual guide to the best places to drink around the world. Last year Speak Low came in at number 15, making the Former French Concession speakeasy the first entry ever from Mainland China into The World's 50 Best Bars.
Shanghai's Union Trading Company is also climbing the ladder, recognised in June at number nine on Asia's 50 Best Bars list and this year named as number 97 on The World's 50 Best Bars 2017 ranking of bars from 51-100.
