Bye bye birdie: Blackbird café has closed

To little surprise, there's been another shuttering in the Dongping Lu area's well-loved group of food and drink destinations: corner café and casual cocktail spot Blackbird closed its doors this past Saturday 21, six months after last spring's shut downs of neighbouring coffee shop The Coffee Academics and the Glo London collective of eateries, as well as Shanghai Brewery months before that. Another sad loss for the neighbourhood, but not shocking.

The team posted a sign on their door bidding adieu to their clientele and cheekily hinting that they might be back in the future...

Farewell, Blackbird. We hope you take these broken wings and learn to fly again in the near future.
