Hold the presses (so to speak) – Starbucks has just opened its first reserve roastery outside of the US, and it's by far the coffee giant’s largest branch in the world.
The behemoth 30,000 square-foot brew house was opened on Nanjing Xi Lu last week, with queues snaking outside for over two hours.
Inside is a whole arsenal of gadgets that sound like they came out of a Roald Dahl book – think 40-tonne copper tank, steampunks and sonorously named ‘symphony pipes’ that wiz beans from roaster to bar, where they are turned into your cup of Joe.
