While predicting the weather in Shanghai is as risky and uncertain as guessing how your body is going to react to a serving of late-night streetfood, weather authorities foresaw snow for Shanghai this week – and at the time of sending this out, the predictions seem to be coming true: it's snowing (in case you hadn't noticed on your Moments, in person, or on every other lifestyle media WeChat account). Some reports are even saying the snow is set to continue and maybe even settle on Thursday and Friday. Snow day, anyone?

According to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau, temperatures will drop to as low as minus two degrees in parts of the city on Thursday, which will leave us all wrapping up warm like this cute little kid below.

Friday is looking dreary but the temperature will hike back to around zero, with a wet and drizzly weekend to follow. To make up for this bleak winter image, the week starting Monday 29 seems promising with higher temperatures (up to seven degrees Celsius) and more sunshine.

So dig out your long johns, wooly mittens and deerstalkers, before heading out to seek all the necessary winter sustenance. Whether that means booking a place at a simmering hotpot table or locking down your hot-chocolate-of-choice, there are many things in Shanghai to keep you warm and cheerful till spring arrives.
