Driverless metros to be trialled in Shanghai

After the recent news of self-driving cars being tested on Shanghai and Beijing's roads, it looks like it's now the turn of driverless trains.
According to Xinhua, the new six-station APM line (Automated People Mover) – covering 6.7 kilometres – will run between Huizhen Lu and Shendu Highway stations and will feature trains without drivers. Sounds safe enough, right?

The APM system has previously been introduced in both Beijing and Guangzhou and the driverless trains are set to be tested here in Shanghai before the end of the month, Shanghai Shentong Metro Group has revealed.
