They'll be using WeChat while pulling up in a black cab and you better not kill their dab. That's right, Chengdu rappers Higher Brothers, along with a host of China's finest rap talent, are coming to Shanghai this July for The Plug Festival.

Billed as a celebration of street culture, the one-day event on Saturday 14 July will also feature 頑童MJ116, Stooki Sound, bbno$, Young Dragon, Akin, Warz and more. The space, at China Shipping Pavilion down by the former Expo site, features indoor and outdoor areas guaranteeing you'll be able to party whatever the weather.

Early bird tickets are sold out, while presale tickets and VIP passes go on sale tomorrow (Thu 28) at midday for 420RMB and 680RMB respectively. A regular ticket will set you back 560RMB. You can find all the ticket info you need on their event page (scroll to the bottom for a link), and you can follow PLUG on WeChat (ID: theplugofficial) for more information about Plug Fest and other upcoming events.

In the meantime, get familiar with some of the acts below:

Higher Brothers are blowing up right now. The Chengdu rappers' nationwide tour sold out venues across the country last year in support of their record Black Cab and their music – which covers topics such as WeChat and the beauty of 7-Eleven – has even been featured everywhere from Hypebeast to NPR.

Shanghai singer Akin (formerly Lil Akin) has been teaming up with Shanghai-based Visudy of late and they'll be joining forces once more to rep the 'Hai at The Plug Festival. Earlier this year, Akin collaborated with another Shanghai artist, ChaCha, on sexy, sultry summer anthem 'Summer Love Aria' (listen above), a perfect soundtrack for your Shanghai summer and another great advert for the quality music coming out of the city.

頑童MJ116

Taiwanese hip hop trio 頑童MJ116, from Taipei, will be bringing their mix of trap, rap and hip hop to the Shanghai stage, having received coverage from the likes of Red Bull and more.

Across from Shanghai Children's Art Theatre 800 Miaojiang Lu, near Xizang Nan Lu. Sat 14 Jul. 1.30-10pm. 560RMB; 420RMB (presale); 300RMB (early bird).
