Brilliant idea, or perversion of everything we know and love about putting a beef patty between two buns? Charlie’s has expanded its burger menu to now include ice cream burgers.
Yes, you read that right. The ‘burgers’ are made with Charlie's trademark (and perhaps controversial) brioche hamburger buns and ice cream that's made in-house. Altogether, it's an odd concoction of sweet and savoury.

The ice cream burgers come in three flavour combos, some more classy and others mixing ingredients which you might want to keep on separate sides of the kitchen: chocolate with raspberry and pistachio; peanut butter with bacon; and toffee-infused coffee ice cream with Froot Loops and a pineapple crisp. Once you're past the heaping tower of brain freeze, the taste of each one is... not bad, but whacky.
If you're looking for an enjoyable dessert experience, the chocolate raspberry and pistachio combo is easiest on the palate of the three. But if you just want to update your WeChat Moments, go for the Froot Loop concoction, as it's the most Willy Wonka-esque. The ice cream burgers are only available at Charlie’s Fengshengli location, near Nanjing Xi Lu metro station, and they are going for 30RMB each.
📍 No 16, 281 Maoming Bei Lu, near Nanjing Xi Lu.
