Stone Brewing Grand Opening Party

Stone Brewing Tap Room is celebrating the grand opening of its flagship in China with a boozy bash, featuring 28 tap beers on tap. A curated food menu of their world-inspired cuisine will also be served. For entertainment, POPASUDA Sound’s DJ Skinny Brown will be on deck, and Shanghai Tattoo will be offering on-the-spot tattoos. The first glass of beer is free for everyone. There will also be a raffle, and the biggest prize is free beer for a year.

Wine Lips presents Lip Service Dinner Party

BOSS LADY Breakfast with Chew Chan

Brasil in Trio

Brasil in Trio is making a pit stop in Shanghai on their China tour at Shake. The trio presents popular traditional Brazilian music with a modern twist. Catch the three musicians in action with Everton Luiz on the saxophone and flute, Diego Amaral on percussions and Julio Lemos on the seven-string guitar.

Kashmere

Kashmere, a four-piece 'indie doom rock' outfit from Stockport, England, make their first stop in Shanghai. The band, best known for the 2016 summer single 'Blow Your Mind' and 2017's 'Porcelain', blend stadium rock riffs with elements of synth-pop.

Elrow: Sambowdromo do Brasil

Party brand Elrow claim to have been entertainers since 1870 - they have quite the storied history in showing people a good time. This weekend, they're bringing their Sambowdromo do Brasil show over two nights. It's a party that's part-carnival/circus and part-club night - actors, dancers, DJs and a ton of confetti, basically.

Once again ALL serves up a brilliant night of insight into what some of China's most interesting audio visual talents are currently producing with Do Hits head honcho Howie Lee performing with Thoiid and Jason Hou and Miao Jing - who recently dove into ancient Egypt with their joint project [初] ZP TPJ - also combining. As if that wasn't enough, Billy Starman, C.A.I.N, DJ Kool Klone and veeeky are on the bill too. Do Hits, don't miss.

The Egg House

The egg-themed pop-up that was a hit in New York City is now hatching in Shanghai. Filled with interactive installations and Instagrammable exhibits, this dreamscape is the weirdly wonderful imagined home of Ellis the Egg. This pop-up will be open for three months until Thursday 18 October.

The Shanghai Literary Review Open Mic

The Shanghai Literary Review hosts its semi-regular open mic at My Place Ruin Bar. Readings of any kind welcome, but limited to 5 minutes. To sign up for a reading slot, email shanghailiterary@gmail.com with your name and a short bio. Or just come and be a part of the audience. Starts at 7.30pm.

The Common Store Pop Up

The team behind Common Rare has opened their first pop-up store at Rockbund. For three weeks, they'll be selling a range of products from numerous brands, including home fragrance, jewellery, accessories, clothes and indie magazines. Pate and Grooow juice will be serving desserts, pastries and juice.

KFK Spotlight: Mohammed Magdi – Brown Mirror

Billed as not for the easily offended, US comic Matt Davis, as seen at Just For Laughs Montreal, San Francisco Sketchfest and more, comes to KFK for two headline shows, with support from Norah Yang, Andy Curtain and Mohammed Magdi (Friday 20) and Andy Curtain, Sarah Peng and Byron Murphy (Saturday 21).

Unravel: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Hear stories of people pushing 'it' to the limit, or discovering their limits. This month's entry in Shanghai's Unravel storytelling series is themed 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger', hosted by Australian fitness brand F45 Training.

Klimt Experience

The Klimt Experience is a 45-minute multimedia installation involving video projection on to the floors and walls and a virtual reality experience that allows you to seemingly enter the artist's works. Discover the artist's breathtaking paintings with a mind-blowing tech-stravaganza that will leave after-images seared into your optic nerves.

Condo Shanghai: Hu Weiyi and Yoshua Okón

As part of the first edition of Condo Complex in Shanghai, a gallery swap between locally-based galleries and international partners, Don Gallery and Ghebaly Gallery from Los Angeles co-host a dialogue between the video works of Chinese artist Hu Weiyi and Mexican artist Yoshua Okón about their video works. As keen observers of human behaviour, they experiment with the unstable relationship between performance, acting and action.

An Encounter

Completing her doctorate degree in the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, Chinese contemporary artist Kristin Ng-Yang is having an exhibition at Noeli Gallery, featuring her charcoal drawings, lithography, watercolour, mono prints and photograph from 2013 through 2017. As a migrant artist, Kristin’s artwork is borderless and distinctive, influenced by African and Chinese culture.
