It's been China's hottest summer in over half a century

It's been pretty hot this summer, dui bu dui? Sweating profusely and seeking shelter in air-conditioned malls has become second nature to you – you even got so desperate to beat the heat you turned to Taobao to find a remedy or two. Well, you haven't been the only one struggling, as it turns out it's been China's hottest summer in 57 years.

According to SHINE, a national average of 22 degrees Celsius made 2018 Shanghai's hottest summer since 1961. Throughout this summer, 55 weather stations measured record-breaking daily temperatures, while this coming September is also expected to be hotter than normal years. Looks like there'll be no respite from the heat anytime soon...
Still, if you are looking for ways to keep cool, get some cheap iced coffees, try your luck at ice cream shops, or just hide in a cool, dark room for the next month or so, binge-watching Netflix series and constructing a mountain of plastic containers from waimai deliveries. Sure, your friends may be worried about the hermit lifestyle you've adopted, but at least you won't be too sweaty...
