Meet Shanghai's Michelin-starred restaurants for 2019
Photograph: Yang Xiaozhe (Ultraviolet)
Seems just a hot minute ago that the city's dining scene was on the edge of its collective seat, awaiting the announcement of The Michelin Guide's first edition, doesn't it? The city's only three-star honour for the inaugural 2017 guide was awarded to T'ang Court at The Langham, Shanghai, Xintiandi; 26 of the city's restaurants were starred in total; and just generally, people were surprised by the number of Cantonese spots which walked away with stars. Last year, the second edition of the guide saw Paul Pairet's Ultraviolet join the three-star ranks and the number of Shanghai's starred restaurants went up to 30. Now, we've arrived at year three.
We'll save the analysis and give you good people what you want. Here's the list of Shanghai's starred restaurants as named by The Michelin Guide Shanghai 2019.
All new entries on the list are marked with an asterisk.
