Support kids' education at this rooftop dinner party and auction

Summer's just drawn to a close, yet somehow we're nearly at the season of giving (and giving back). Warm up your philanthropic muscles at Shanghai Sunrise's auction and annual fundraiser All Hands on Deck this month on Saturday 13 October. The proceeds of the evening go towards supporting the organisation's mission of equipping disadvantaged young people through education and empowering them to realise fulfilling careers.
In China, education is free until Grade 10, which leaves many students unable to continue their education past this point as their families may be unable to afford it. Since 1996, Shanghai Sunrise has been providing scholarships for students who would otherwise not have a chance to further their studies.

The October 13 fundraiser is happening at Kathleen's Waitan near the Cool Docks, which has a gorgeous sprawling terrace with views over the Huangpu and the Lujiazui skyline. The main event of the day is the auction – both live and silent – with prizes ranging from a city getaway at naked Retreats, to a session in a 911 Porsche at the Porsche Experience Centre Shanghai, to a private Shanghai by Night tour in a Jeep with Shanghai Insiders. We're also offering up an editor-led and curated bar tour of Shanghai featuring the city's best watering holes and capped off with a late-night dinner for two at Mr & Mrs Bund (editor not included on that last part).
Tickets are 300RMB for free-flow drinks and canapés from 4.30 to 7.30pm (hello, beautiful sunset views) and 600RMB for the reception plus a dinner to follow. Support a good cause, drink in the city's amazing skyline and snag some great 'only in Shanghai' experiences at the auction while you're at it.
