From fancy Bund-side dinners to free-flow Champagne affairs to killer dance parties, as ever, Shanghai isn't short of ways to count down to 2019. But with all the excitement, according to Shine, there's going to be some changes to transportation operations in certain parts of the city. Here's what you need to know, so you’re not left behind… maybe even literally.

While extra trains will be added to the metro for the holiday period, if you’re heading to The Bund to ring in the new year, the metro might not be the best way to go as trains won’t be stopping at Nanjing Dong Lu station on New Year’s Eve after 8pm.

To make the streets more pedestrian friendly, many roads will also be closed to traffic around The Bund, including the off-ramp at Jiangxi Lu on Yanan gaojia – vehicles will be allowed through the Bund tunnel, though. The Dongjin ferry between Dongchang Lu and Jinlin Lu stations and The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel (Shanghai's worst tourist attraction, anyone?) will be shut too.

For Xintiandi goers, the streets will be equally devoid of motorists – with surrounding Danshui Lu, Huaihai Zhong Lu, Fuxing Zhong Lu and Xizang Nan Lu also said to be off-limits to traffic.

Wherever you end up, safe travels and Happy New Year!
