A new Starbucks concept just opened... with cocktails and brunch

It kind of feels like Starbucks are popping up everywhere in Shanghai these days: on every street corner, in every mall, inside already existing Starbucks... After having teamed up with Ele.me to offer delivery, opening the world's largest Starbucks back in 2017, and not to mention announcing grand plans to have 6,000 stores across the country by 2022, it's safe to say that Xingbake is taking China by storm. So you probably won't be surprised to hear that a new Starbucks concept has landed in Shanghai. Yep, the world's first Starbucks Reserve Bakery Café is now open at Grand Gateway 66, combining the company's Reserve Roastery concept with Italian bakery chain Princi.
Offering an all-day dining experience, you can pop in for breakfast, lunch, evening finger foods and weekend brunch. Yes, you can get Starbucks brunch now – Prosecco and all – and you're definitely going to try it, 'cause ya basic.
Its extended food menu has more than 100 different items, with breakfast foods including a choice of eggs, sandwiches and yoghurts. For lunch, there are pizzas and salads, and Italian desserts ranging from cakes to tarts to tiramisu. During afternoons, Reserve Bakery also does aperitivo (light cocktails paired with small bites) daily from 5-7pm, with Aperol Spritz and other 'Starbucks Mixology' cocktails.
But about that brunch. There are four dishes on offer: baked eggs in purgatory sauce, baked eggs in portobello sauce, a frittata and salmon plate and a frittata and whole portobello plate. Each is 122RMB and comes with an Americano. For an additional 38RMB you can get boozy with some Belstar Prosecco.
So, yeah, another Starbucks concept that will be a hit in Shanghai, maybe. Are there any more Starbucks hybrids on the horizon? We'll have to see what they come up with next.
